SPEAKER_00:All right, what up, y'all? Welcome to Spar Unboxing Podcast Christmas special with a very special guest, friend of ours, friend of the show. Ginny Fuchs. Did I say it right? No. Fuck shit. I knew it. I was like trying to. Fuck. All right. Introduce yourself again, Ginny.
SPEAKER_03:Hey guys, it's Ginny Fuchsh.
SPEAKER_00:Fuchshesh.
SPEAKER_03:Fuchs. Remember like the color fuch show without the uh?
SPEAKER_00:Yeah, I'm sorry. I messed that up every time. Sorry, sorry.
SPEAKER_03:It's okay. I've gotten worse.
SPEAKER_00:Yo, this is the Christmas special. You're our first guest ever for a Christmas special. And you got the hat on.
SPEAKER_02:I love the hat.
SPEAKER_00:Real festive. Got it all sparkly too. Yeah. Yo, Ginny's home right now, and her house is like amazing. I'm moving to Texas.
SPEAKER_03:Well, I live, so I live, you know, more south of the inner city. Uh, I where I live is called Seabrook. I live right on Galveston Bay.
SPEAKER_00:Okay.
SPEAKER_03:So it takes me like 45 minutes to get into town to get to my gym.
SPEAKER_00:So, like in the bay, there's like boats and shit too?
SPEAKER_03:Yeah.
SPEAKER_00:Oh, cool.
SPEAKER_03:Yeah, yeah. It's a big bay, Galveston Bay, and then it and then you can go if you just keep on going south, then you're in the Gulf of Mexico.
SPEAKER_02:Oh, nice. So 45 minutes, is it traffic bad or nah?
SPEAKER_03:Uh well, the the hour I go to the gym, I make sure there's no traffic. Coming home is a different story, but yeah, I'm in Houston, there's always traffic.
SPEAKER_00:Oh yeah.
SPEAKER_03:Not as bad as you guys. New York is horrible.
SPEAKER_00:Yo, every part of New York traffic sucks. Like we're on Long Island, it sucks. In the city, obviously, it always sucks. But like even like upstate this time of year, it sucks. Like, just sucks everywhere. Oh, I gotta move our festive Christmas tree. I can't see Willie's pretty face. But Ginny, let's get right into it. We're gonna keep it Christmas themed, the spa unboxing podcast. Um, our good friend of the show again for those listening, Ginny Fuches.
SPEAKER_01:Fuchs, come on!
SPEAKER_00:Last time I said Ginny uh F U C K S. Yeah, F U C S. We're getting there, we're getting there, we're getting there. I know you had a rough year, Ginny. I know you had a rough year, and I don't mean to make it more rough with my name calling. Uh but I let's let's we're gonna talk about Christmas first because this is a Christmas special. Do you do you train year round or or what how do you get into it? Like, do you eat a lot on Christmas? Are you like a are you a holiday blungeon like me?
SPEAKER_03:And just fucking yeah, I mean, I always stay close to my weight, and I'm not one of those fighters that blows up. It's just it's hard for me too. Honestly, it's just hard. So yeah, I will eat a lot for Christmas. Nice. Um uh, but but yeah, I don't I yeah, I train all year round because, well, especially with my career, you know, it's hard for me to get fights, and you know, I never know if I get a call, oh, will you be ready to fight in two weeks or something? And actually, that just happened to me in October. Um, the WC told me that the girl who had the the bell of it because she was injured, and then I told you guys this, but yeah, so the girl I fought last time, uh Ruiz, uh, fought in November and uh her original opponent had pulled out. So hold on, hold on.
SPEAKER_00:Before we get into the nitty-gritty, hold on.
SPEAKER_03:Okay, okay, okay, okay.
SPEAKER_00:I got I got we're gonna get into that. We're gonna keep it.
SPEAKER_03:Sorry, sorry, I got excited.
SPEAKER_00:You could let the Grinch come out in a minute. We'll keep it Christmas themed right now. I know you're upstairs.
SPEAKER_02:She came in here with an agenda.
SPEAKER_00:We'll get in there, we'll get in there, we'll get into that because I I got a lot to talk about that too.
SPEAKER_02:Oh, it's just we'll go.
SPEAKER_00:We'll get there. We'll get so it when since again this is Christmas themed. We're gonna work our way into the boxing part of it, but uh our our our first ever Christmas special with the guests. Yeah. Um, do you are you like a family Christmas person or how does that yes? So you have the family come to your house. Your house looks massive. Did they come to your house?
SPEAKER_03:Because everything's bigger in Texas, or like where well, you know, I'm not I'm not married or don't have kids, so usually we'll go, I'll go over to my sister's because she has uh my niece and nephews. Um so I go, I go over there for Christmas Day and you know, give them my presents. We all open presents. Nice, and then we go. Well, the last couple of years we've just gone to my sister's, but this year we're going to my aunt's house, and she lives in the inner side of Houston. So we're all gonna go there. There's gonna be all my cousins on my mom's side, um, on all my aunts and uncles. And yeah, we'll just be over there, eat, drink, celebrate, play games. And then after that, you know, I don't know what what else I might do. You never know.
SPEAKER_02:Are you expected to bring the best gifts since you're the pro and shit? Pro boxer, and they probably think you got money and all this, you know, the assumptions. Are you the rich? You the rich auntie?
SPEAKER_03:Oh my god.
SPEAKER_02:Yeah, you're spent, yeah.
SPEAKER_03:You definitely, you know, even though I'm the only aunt, you know, I gotta I gotta let you know.
SPEAKER_02:You gotta buy all the PlayStations and I wish though.
SPEAKER_03:I mean I haven't bought all year, so but I still I still try to, you know, I I make sure that I I will give my niece and nephews the best Christmas.
SPEAKER_00:How old are they? Or how many do you have?
SPEAKER_03:So I have I have a niece, she's the oldest, she's 11, and then two nephews, one's nine and one is four.
SPEAKER_00:Are they like athletic too, or are they like do they want a box? Yeah.
SPEAKER_03:So um, so my niece, she's in gymnastics, and she's actually really good, and she competes all year round. Uh, my nephew Carson, he tried karate. Not not very not his thing.
SPEAKER_00:Yeah, nothing.
SPEAKER_03:So he plays baseball now. Okay, and then the youngest Wyatt. Um, you know, he's he's pretty bad. I think he's gonna be a good good athlete.
SPEAKER_00:That's such an authentic Texas name, Wyatt.
SPEAKER_03:Yeah, why is he gonna be a quarterback?
SPEAKER_00:Yeah, he's gonna be a quarterback.
SPEAKER_03:Yeah, he's a character.
SPEAKER_00:Nice, nice. Well, that's good.
SPEAKER_02:You know, yeah, people own hotels or something.
SPEAKER_00:Right?
SPEAKER_03:We'll go to the Wyatt and be like, hey, my name.
SPEAKER_00:I don't know anything. I never heard of a Wyatt that's that's like a Texas thing.
SPEAKER_03:I feel well, I don't know. Now that y'all said that, I'm just I feel like I've heard it, but I don't know. Maybe it doesn't exist, but I feel like I've seen it.
SPEAKER_00:No, she has she's in Texas, bro. She is yeah, I'm in Houston. There's Wyatt's everywhere over there.
SPEAKER_03:You think so? Is it for real? Well, to be honest, I feel like now that because now that y'all are saying it, I feel like I've seen it. So I don't want to promise you there is.
SPEAKER_02:Oh, we're getting the we're getting the um GTA effect. Grand Theft Alright. Oh no. Yeah, where you get the like you get a you steal a card and you start seeing it everywhere.
SPEAKER_00:Right? All right. Now, since you alluded to it and he's bringing up stealing, let's talk about you like that? You like that segue? I'm getting better at this. I'm getting real good at this. Let's let's talk about what the WBC did and what they basically essentially stole from you. But name drop, I'll name drop if you don't want to. Uh Ruiz, right?
SPEAKER_03:Ruiz, yeah, yeah. Yeah, that's a girl, that's my last fight.
SPEAKER_00:Over a year.
SPEAKER_03:Crazy.
SPEAKER_00:And and so, so, so you had, I'll just talk and then you could you could interrupt me. So, for those that don't know, Ginny fought for the the interim WBC belt, correct? That was it. That was the fight. She she became thumbless, but it came back, it grew back, her thumb grew back, and and that's the fight we watched, and we were like, yo, that's where we became a real fan of yours. We're like, yo, this this chick is gangster. Like, she she's she's her thumb was hanging and she's just giggling. Like, what the hell? Wyatt's gotta see that. Like, like when Wyatt starts playing football, you gotta show him that because he's he's that's gonna accelerate his his manhood. That was insane.
SPEAKER_02:You can see he ain't gonna ever fake an injury near her.
SPEAKER_00:And and besides the thumb incident, Ginny basically, in my opinion, won almost every round. You know, there might have been one or two close ones, but you clearly won the fight. And that was for the again, the interim WBC belt. And mind you, you're you're only 4-0, so your pro record isn't isn't really uh, you know, you're not you're not you're not like you have a lot of fights, yeah. Yeah, you don't have a lot of fights. But that being said, they gave you this opportunity, the WBC. You took it, you you won it. You you had the injury with the thumb, obviously. So fast forward now, what is it like six months, maybe?
SPEAKER_03:Maybe a little a little no, it's a it's a been a year and a month. Well, when I got the call, it was a year and a month, yeah, or almost two months.
SPEAKER_00:So so so fast forward now the same girl that you fought for the belt and that you you won the belt, the interim belt, what and we'll talk about the belts after we go through this, but the interim belt now gets a shot at the real belt. Meanwhile, you're sitting here with your thumbs intact. What the what the hell is going on? You beat her after you beat her.
SPEAKER_03:So let me let me uh rewind a little bit.
SPEAKER_00:Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Go ahead.
SPEAKER_03:You know, uh, once my thumb was healed, the WC made it mandatory for me to fight um as Leia Gonzalez, who had originally had the WC belt, and that was supposed to be back in May, right? Yeah, and at first she and I and after I won that fight with Ruiz, I had I got a two-fight contract deal with Match Room.
SPEAKER_00:Uh-huh.
SPEAKER_03:And so Matroom was gonna throw this fight, and um, so Gonzalez, she turned down their offer, so then it was gonna go to a purse bid.
SPEAKER_00:Yeah, I remember you told me that.
SPEAKER_03:Yeah, I thought I told you that. Yeah, and so you know, and uh, I guess like two weeks went by, and I'm like, okay, when's a purse bid gonna happen? Why is this taking so long? Blah blah blah. And then my manager's like, you know, I'm I'm gonna I'm gonna stay on it. And then he called me about like two days later and goes, so bad news. I go, Oh my god, you gotta be kidding me. Um, apparently, Aslea got um a unification fight with the IBF champ, and that oversees a mandatory fight, and I didn't know that. That's the first time I, you know, I learned that about in the boxing world. So I was like, wow, you gotta be kidding. So then we were gonna go for the WA belt.
SPEAKER_00:So can I interrupt you real quick? Yeah, yeah, yeah. Ruiz is when I was sticking up for you on social media. I was getting DMs from all kinds of Latinos from all over the world, and and which is cool, it was fine. I liked it, I embraced it. Uh, and um they were saying you you were hurt or you had another injury, that's why you haven't fight fought, and she was more active. That's why they gave it to her. They were just pulling stuff out of there.
SPEAKER_03:Yeah, dude, that that's what pissing me off. There's there's all these rumors, and I don't know where it's coming from. Um, I mean, could be possibly coming from her manager, obviously, so that she could get you know the sp the opportunity before I get it. But no, all those are rumors. I've been staying ready all year. Literally, I feel like I've been in and out of camp all year. All year. Like you can tell, I'm I'm always in shape.
SPEAKER_00:Ginny's yoked. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03:The Grinch is coming. I'm sorry.
SPEAKER_00:You should come out green, like all his hat on the wheel.
SPEAKER_03:But so, so yeah, so you know, then I was like, okay, well, I'll wait for that unification fight to happen, and whoever gets the two belts, I'll fight them. And then in the meantime, Matthew was like, All right, we'll work to get you the WA belt. And the girl who has the WA belt is uh Jasmine Ortega. Yeah, and she got signed with yeah.
SPEAKER_00:Yeah, so go ahead, finish it. We'll Alex. So go ahead, go ahead. Sorry.
SPEAKER_03:Okay, well, she got signed by Jake Paul, I think, in uh July or something like that. Because Mattrum was like, Well, we'll work on doing that in August. Yeah, once she got signed by Jake Paul, then Matram was like, Well, you know, now we can't, we don't really have the control over that fight. How about Ginny goes get how about Ginny? You just go and sign with Jake Paul. And I've actually been I've talked to Jake Paul's people and they they said they're interested, but then I haven't heard back from them. And this was back in yeah, this is actually back in July or maybe beginning of August.
SPEAKER_00:So you weren't hurt.
SPEAKER_03:No, I wasn't hurt. No, my thumb I've been I've been sparring since last January.
SPEAKER_00:Okay.
SPEAKER_03:Literally, yeah, when my thumb was when the doctor said January, you can start hitting the back hitting the mids and sparring. So that's when I've been sparring. That's uh uh I've been healthy, I've been strong, nothing's been broken, thumb's intact. I'm good, I'm not injured.
SPEAKER_00:Can you just lower your volume a little bit just because we hear an echo? That's all. And this is like a radio. Well, we get most listeners on the radio, nobody wants to see us, but is that better?
SPEAKER_03:I also apparently I like to scream. Yeah, it's awesome. My mom's like, why are you yelling? I'm like, am I? Like, shut up, mom! It's fucking Ruiz girl.
SPEAKER_02:Shout out to George.
SPEAKER_00:Thank you, George. So is that better? Um, yeah, yeah, yeah. I think it's better. I don't know. I don't care. I'm just excited to talk to you, so I don't know. But um I'll lower the my volume. So so somebody was like DMing me that you were uh that your shoulder was injured, and I'm like, Well, I didn't hear that. I I kind of you know, we're friendly. I talked to you. I uh she would have said that. Uh she I didn't wait, wait, say that again.
SPEAKER_03:You you froze up for a minute.
SPEAKER_00:Um, someone was d DM'd me. I don't know who, like I said, uh I was getting DM'd like crazy, and uh which is cool, I like that. But uh they were like, Oh, your shoulders hurt, like she hurt her shoulder, that's why she backed out, and I'm like, Okay, uh, I I mean I think she would have told me that. You don't seem like a liar.
SPEAKER_02:The NMN is a weird place. The NNA is a weird place.
SPEAKER_03:Yeah, so people are just I don't know, they're just telling you right now, I don't know why they're telling you this, but so when did you when did it how did the Ruiz thing happen?
SPEAKER_00:Like, why did she get it?
SPEAKER_03:So then so when Mattrin was like, how about you get signed by Jake Paul? It's talk to Jake Paul's people, but haven't heard back from them. Then um, so I talked to Red Al, and Red Al was very interested in me and um wanted and wanted to sign me. It took a while before I signed with them. I signed with them in uh end of October, maybe beginning November.
SPEAKER_00:But I'm like they're up and coming, I feel like I've been seeing them more and more.
SPEAKER_03:Yeah, Red Al. Yeah, yeah. Um, in fact, remember when I fought uh in TCL?
SPEAKER_00:Yeah.
SPEAKER_03:And so the arena where we competed when we fought in Houston, that's Red Al had leased that building, and that's where they were throwing all their fights. But now they they don't have that building anymore. Yeah, but it was in Houston. That's how I first heard about them.
SPEAKER_00:That's sick.
SPEAKER_03:Yeah. And and then I met the I met the matchmaker at in Philly when I was when I went to the Miami team for the playoffs. So yeah, so you know, I've I've known about Red Owl and then you know when the fight, when I couldn't get the fight with the WA, and then I didn't hear back from Jake Paul's people, then we reached back out to Red Ow.
SPEAKER_00:Okay, so so now you're with Red Owl.
SPEAKER_03:So I finally signed with Red Out, yeah.
SPEAKER_00:Okay.
SPEAKER_03:So during this time, right before I signed with Red Owl, right? Um, the WC had actually emailed um Match Room because they thought I was still with Match Room saying that as and okay, and during this time, you know, what happened to that fight, that unification fight as Leia was supposed to have with IBF Champ, right? And I'm like, well, this has never happened. And then, so yeah, in the end of October, WC emailed Match Room and said, As Leia is hurt, so they're stripping her of the belt because she can't fight for six to eight months. And Ruiz has a fight in November on a pro box card, and her original opponent pulled out, and they asked if I would be ready to fight her for the full WC belt. And I was like, Let's do it. I'm ready.
SPEAKER_00:Finally, no questions asked. You were like, I'm in.
SPEAKER_03:Yeah, yeah. And so this, and it was like uh I think it was like a four-week notice. So I had a month, you know, just of no notice, and then and then yeah, so the like the day after, that's when I had signed by Red Al. So then Red Al was in contact with her manager about it. And in conversation with her manager, Red Al and the WC, I don't really know what happened, but I I think they were like, I think her manager and the and red owl were like, how about we do it on a bigger card? And red al was like, I'm throwing a big card in February, February 6th. Would that do you want to do y'all want to fight for the belt then? And her manager said, Okay, let's do it then. But then apparently her manager went back to the WC and said, Ginny won't be ready to fight Ruiz in November. So we're going, yeah, uh-huh. Playing games, exactly. So we're gonna go ask, forget the girl who she fought, forget her name, but she we're gonna go ask her to fight. And can I ask you something though?
SPEAKER_00:Because we're not we're not behind the scenes, right? Can I ask you something? Like, why why would the WBC just be like, oh, okay, and not reach out to your manager?
SPEAKER_03:So and that, yeah, I honestly I don't know, and that's the weird thing because we already told them that when they asked us that, yeah, we'll we'll be ready, you know.
SPEAKER_00:So Latino, that Latino connection, man. I'm telling you. So I was thinking the WBC, it's always the WBC.
SPEAKER_03:I was thinking either her manager and his buddy buddy with the president or something, I don't know. But but yeah, so the WC was like, okay, fine. And then when I and then all of a sudden, you know, Red Al called me and they go, So we I heard that you're not ready. And I go, What do you mean I'm not ready? We we told them we're ready. And he goes, Well, the WC just approved her to fight what's her name, um, and because you're not ready. And I'm like, No, I told them I was ready. So then we went back to the WC and said, Hold up, I don't know where you're hearing this from. I'm ready. Um, I have the interim. How are you not gonna let me fight for the vacant belt before you know the other girl that y'all that Ruiz is trying to fight? I forget her name, I'm sorry. Um, but you know, and they came back with sorry, we've talked to the board and we're not gonna reverse the decision, but you will be able to fight the winner in February 6, uh, whoever wins the belt. And I was like, Well, Ruiz will probably win the belt, and she did. But yeah, that's it.
SPEAKER_00:But like that's gonna mess with your head, like it's so stupid. Because and and you know what it does, like that confuses. So, I the the biggest question we get from like non-boxing fans is explain the belts. There's too many belts, like, I don't understand the belts, and I don't know how to answer it.
SPEAKER_02:And hearing this shit that happened to you just makes when uh Crawford was making his excuse, yeah. His excuses is not really excuses, it's not right. They over there fucking with people money and time and and hard work. It's making no sense.
SPEAKER_03:Like well, it makes no sense because I'm the I'm the interim. So I automatically technically, I think this happened to to Rolly. I think technically when it goes when it gets stripped, the WC, the full WC belt goes straight to the interim champ.
SPEAKER_00:It's a problem, yeah.
SPEAKER_03:I've heard that's happened before. I still believe I should fight for. But technically, I know that the WC has done that.
SPEAKER_00:You heard what she just said, people. That's why we that's why we love it. I still believe I should fight for it. That's amazing. For no, yeah, I mean I still believe I should fight for it. That's it.
SPEAKER_03:But technically, but in the past, they have done that. They've they've given the full belt to the emailed it to a couple of people.
SPEAKER_00:It's just so confusing, and like it's the hard and and to me, that's that's the sole reason what where you know boxing isn't as big as it was in the golden era, but it's the sole reason why there's so much confusion. Is this why I love the four belts, I love the four championship belts, but like there's the interim, there's the intercontinental, there's every country has one. Like it's it doesn't make any sense. Aztec indeed. Yeah, I know, I know.
SPEAKER_03:And that's what and you even I know you guys have heard of it. That's what's hurting the sport because people are like, wait a minute, everybody's a world champ, so who's the wor who's the real world champ, right?
SPEAKER_00:And and it's clearly become more and more, and and props to Terrence Crawford and the guys that have come out and and said it, and even Errol Spence Jr. said it way back when he said way back then. It looks like a money grab because you have to pay for that. So we have a friend um who was gonna fight for the Latino WBC belt or whatever it was, like one of the lower belts, and and he's not uh in that main mainstream market yet, uh Lorenzo Medina out of Florida. And he even said he's like, Yeah, I'm gonna fight for this belt or whatever, but uh it's gonna cost me like a lot of money. And you know, at that level, boxing does boxers aren't rich at that level. Exactly.
SPEAKER_03:It's crazy, especially for a belt, if it's not one of the four belts, then it's like uh-huh, what's the point?
SPEAKER_00:I mean back to back to your case though. Speaking of what's the point, what's the point of the intern belt if if they're just gonna let her fight for it? So it doesn't, it doesn't make sense.
SPEAKER_02:You at least should be able to fight for it, yeah, should be the first option to fight for it. Right, right. So that don't make no sense.
SPEAKER_00:So so you mentioned you mentioned uh Artiga, Jasmine Artiga, and uh she was on a cruise, and Willie happened to be on the cruise and became friends with her. Yeah, yeah, it was like just random. It was crazy. But when this all happened, she she actually DM'd me and and she was like, Yeah, I don't know what the hell is going on with that. I thought Ginny was gonna fight for that. She already beat her. Like, she was confused as well. So, like everybody was confused. Yeah, like she wasn't saying bad. She was just like, I don't understand what's going on here.
SPEAKER_03:It doesn't make sense, yeah.
SPEAKER_00:It doesn't make no sense. Um, but all right, so so do you have a date then?
SPEAKER_03:Is so so yeah, you saw Ruiz one, and you know, February 6th, actually, February 6th, guys. It's the card's in Philly, so you can come, right? That's not Philly.
SPEAKER_02:Oh, we're there. Let's go. I don't got a chair competition.
SPEAKER_00:Willie's a dad.
SPEAKER_02:So I don't have a chair competition.
SPEAKER_00:But I will, I will Philly. That's perfect. I will look at that. That's like a Texas dog.
SPEAKER_03:Yeah, sorry.
SPEAKER_00:That's a real like, yeah.
SPEAKER_03:He's barking at he's barking at the the noise.
SPEAKER_00:The torus.
SPEAKER_03:But um, but yeah, so it's in Philly. So my manager ran into her to Ruiz's manager at the WB WBA convention. Yeah, the one. And he said, and he told my manager, all right, let's make it happen next week, meaning this coming up week. Okay, they're supposed to talk this week. Hopefully, we can lock it down, and I sign the contract.
SPEAKER_00:Oh, okay. Let's so so February 6th, when you make it official and the tickets drop, let me know. I will 100%.
SPEAKER_02:I'm free February 6th, but that's back to back though.
SPEAKER_00:What do you mean?
SPEAKER_02:What's because that's the 31st, you know.
SPEAKER_00:Yeah, if we we we might be going to the the Tiafimo Shakur fight, the 31st, but whatever.
SPEAKER_03:Well, yeah, you guys can make both, not it's not that hard.
SPEAKER_00:Come on, the only problem is that TO fight, man. Like the you know, we like to sit on the floor. Yeah, no, the the prices, the the pre-sale prices were like$1,100, right? And I was like, all right, it's gonna put a dent. I'm not rich, but whatever. I got a credit card. And then the next day, I was like, I'll wait, I'll wait. The next day it's like 10 grand, but we're still gonna probably figure it out.
SPEAKER_03:Yeah, I I saw that. I saw you trying to get your wife a little loose.
SPEAKER_00:So she's still mad. I saw that she still thinks I'm kidding, but I'm not.
SPEAKER_02:Wow, wow, boy.
SPEAKER_00:Um, but yeah, no, February 6th. I'll actually I'm uh tomorrow she's asleep, but I'm gonna tell the wife. I'm gonna be like, yo, we're going to Philly February 6th. So so uh we will be there because we like you supported us, man. We're nobody's and and we definitely we we always give back everybody we interview.
SPEAKER_02:We try to drive, we could drive, yeah.
SPEAKER_03:Get some train, right?
SPEAKER_02:Yeah, train is crazy.
SPEAKER_00:Nah, there it is.
SPEAKER_02:There is I take it away.
SPEAKER_00:You know, do you know? Well, we'll talk, we'll talk off off air or whatever. Obviously, when it's officially official, let us know and we'll we'll make the plans.
SPEAKER_03:Yeah, I will, I will for sure.
SPEAKER_00:Um, that's awesome though. Congrats, you're finally gonna get it. And I and I I know you're more than ready. Uh, you you showed us your thumbs, your thumbs are good. The shoulders are clearly fine, they're boulder shoulders.
SPEAKER_03:They're fine. I don't know where I swear.
SPEAKER_00:Some somebody was like, Yeah, her shoulder was broke, and that's why she she and I'm like, I just saw because you know, you do the hands with the with the gloves, the clear gloves.
SPEAKER_03:So y'all know, y'all know, y'all know why I wear gloves, right?
SPEAKER_00:Yeah, yeah, yeah. We we talked, yeah. Okay, okay, that's right. That's right. Well, not germphobe.
SPEAKER_03:No, it's more than germophobe. It's deeper, yeah.
SPEAKER_00:I know it's more different levels. She actually has OCD, like real OCD.
SPEAKER_03:Um did y'all ever watch the uh documentary that I was in? Yeah, Oprah.
SPEAKER_00:And I like I said, the last time we spoke to you, I knew because like Michaela would always be like, yeah, yeah. Like, yeah, like she's really fucking with this girl.
SPEAKER_03:Yeah, she puts me on the spot all the time.
SPEAKER_00:I I have a question about that though, and and not regards to the mental condition. Obviously, it's a struggle every day. Yeah, but like has any sponsors ever reached out to you? Like, you could probably get some good sponsors for some oxygen.
SPEAKER_03:Like, like you mean like Clorox or Yeah, like like those are big money sponsors, like they don't have a glad that you said that because I you know I told my manager, I was like, I know I have OCD, and maybe you know, getting like a Clorox or you know, kind of some kind of soap endorsement might be um enabling my OCD, but at the same time, I'm all going to still use it, so they can still sponsor me.
SPEAKER_02:Just reach out to the one you always use. Which one you got, which one you got in your uh your house.
SPEAKER_03:Yeah, like soaps. Oh, I got a lot, but I like I like safeguard, safeguard. When because on the bottle, on the bottle it says washes away bacteria. That's what got me. I'm like, yes.
SPEAKER_00:So I you know what I love about like you like some people try to hide like their mental their mental conditions, and like I have a best friend, right? He has full blown, full-blown Tourette syndrome, like real Tourette syndrome.
SPEAKER_03:And you know, that's a form of OCD, actually.
SPEAKER_00:So I was gonna say he also has like clearly has OCD too, like for other reasons, but he just embraces it, and it's like yeah, dude, just you gotta just embrace who you are, it is what it is, and and yeah, you have to because you know I got diagnosed in eighth grade, but I struggled struggled with it before then.
SPEAKER_03:I just didn't know what it was. Yeah, and so when I got diagnosed and all throughout like high school, yeah, I was because no, you know, nobody understands it, nobody really knows it, and I still didn't understand it myself. So yeah, I would hide it from my best friend, my best best friend she knew, but I would hide it from everybody, and you know, I I felt ashamed because I didn't understand it. But then when I got older, and you know, I realized it more and and you mature it. I was like, you know, I then I then I was more comfortable to be open with it and then explain it to people. And then when people start understanding it, they're like, Oh, okay, and didn't like look at it.
SPEAKER_00:It's when you hide it, it's when you hide it, it looks weird. Like when you just embrace it, exactly. Like I saw you, I saw you with the gloves, and I was like, Yo, that's awesome. That's her OCD. That's like actually cool to me. Like you do chin-ups with the clear gloves. Like, I was like, Yeah, that's that's it.
SPEAKER_03:My straight coach hates it. He's like, Oh, because he thinks he's like, You're not working on it by wearing those. I'm like, I'm like, Evans, do you want me to do this workout right and focus on the workout, or do you want me to be worried about my hands?
SPEAKER_02:So, what happened what happens when you're like in the ring and like doing mitts and all types of shit, just sweat just flying back and forth, it don't bother you.
SPEAKER_03:I get that question all the time. So that's the thing that can break OCD, your your love for something, your passion. So, boxing, you know, that's what I want to do. I want to be the best at it. It's my passion. So I mean, yeah, I might spar somebody and and be like before they get in the ring, if they put their gloves on the ground, I'm like, hey, hey, hey, don't do that. Clean your gloves off, right? I might say that.
SPEAKER_00:But actually, that's actually amazing. That's awesome. Like you're already, you're already, you don't even realize it, you're already getting in their fucking head. Yeah, exactly.
SPEAKER_03:Exactly.
SPEAKER_02:But but you know, like, what is this girl talking about? Put my gloves off the floor.
SPEAKER_03:That's awesome. I'm like, hold on here, let me clorox that off real quick.
SPEAKER_02:Okay, you take their gloves for them. Like, let me wipe these off right fast.
SPEAKER_00:Right there, right there is a commercial. That's a Clorox commercial, right there.
SPEAKER_03:Right? Exactly.
SPEAKER_00:I'm about to call your manager. Yeah, yeah, exactly.
SPEAKER_03:Yeah, but no, but again, like in when I'm in the gym and I'm training, I might have those OCD thoughts, you know, some, you know, like you obviously a boxing gym is not very clean, and I'm those thoughts might come in mind, but then I'm able to like ignore them or say, okay, go away, because I'm focused on you know what I'm doing. It's when I'm not in the gym and not boxing, is where it's uh a battle.
SPEAKER_00:And and it's funny you say that, and I'm not trying to be like perverted, but my friend, my friend with the Tourette's, like we always ask him because he like yo, he like has real Tourette's like like he involuntary bodily movements, and yeah, he said we were like, yo, when you're like making love, I'll keep it PG. Like, what's going on? He's like, dude, I'm so focused.
SPEAKER_01:Like, it's like, oh wow, all right, all right.
SPEAKER_00:And that guy loves making love.
SPEAKER_03:I get that question too. And I mean from the last podcast, you guys know I don't really care about it.
SPEAKER_00:Yeah, last podcast it was Sunday Fun Day for you. We were very, very old. And we don't care either.
SPEAKER_03:No, but sex is a natural, you know, it's a natural thing people do. And and yeah, I mean, I'm not gonna, if my man has just been rolling around in the dirt, I'm not gonna be like, mm, sexy, let me, you know, I want to get on, you know, and be like, all right, go shower first, but then yeah.
SPEAKER_00:And that that has nothing to do with like OCD. That's every female. She don't like musky dolls. That's every person, right?
SPEAKER_01:Right, right, right.
SPEAKER_00:Like my wife would be like, uh, you stink, go shower. I'm like, all right.
SPEAKER_02:Take it how it is, baby. I just came out the gym, bowls, sweaty.
SPEAKER_03:Right, right? I know you like it like this.
SPEAKER_00:Willie's a little different. Don't let this fool you.
SPEAKER_03:It's okay. We all we all got issues, Willie. We all got issues.
SPEAKER_00:Yeah, definitely. Nah, but that's funny though. People just ask you that.
SPEAKER_03:Like, well, I get it all the time.
SPEAKER_00:It's good though, but it's good that you're cool and you just accept it, and and you're a big advocate for it. So you like like she said earlier, she was on Oprah. Like, that's I saw that. I was it was like it came up as a pop-up, and I'm like, yo, I know her. Oh, really? I already knew you had like the OCD. I'm like, what the fuck? She's on Oprah, like that's awesome. Like, yeah. Um, but all right, so Ginny is not hurt. Um it was not her, it was not her fault that this happened. It was clearly something's going on with the WBC.
SPEAKER_03:And I fought for it too. Not you know, I really fought to change the you know, to reverse the decision, but so how does that work too?
SPEAKER_00:Let's let's dive into that real quick. Like, do you do you oh my god, hold on? Um I'm sorry.
SPEAKER_03:Uh hold on, let me Ozzy, we'll let Ozzy out while you do that.
SPEAKER_01:He was waiting.
SPEAKER_00:My dad is waiting again.
SPEAKER_02:He's thirsty. Um Instagram? Yeah.
SPEAKER_00:Oh sorry, my my dad's on um my Instagram saying some weird stuff, but uh hey dad. Yeah, dad, shut up. Uh all right, so that that being said, where were we? I got sidetracked, god damn it.
SPEAKER_03:Uh we were talking about just how how how it how it played out.
SPEAKER_00:So so you had the intern belt, you you you you beat her almost every round with one thumb. One thumb. I want to say that. One thumb. Like literally, it was hanging, and and everybody was like, and again, I I I don't think you got enough like clout for that because that was crazy to us. So so you did that with one thumb. Ginny then has the interim belt, and I'm trying to stay on track here. Shh, uh that that girl Ruiz gets a fight while she's waiting to get her belt shot for the real belt, yeah.
SPEAKER_02:So this is what you broke your thumb, right? You broke your thumb. These Mexicans got some hard ass heads, because like yeah, tank roach, tank roach broke they hand and they broke.
SPEAKER_03:No, you're right because I was like, dang, did I throw the punch wrong, or is her head just fucking hard? Damn, damn.
SPEAKER_00:So let's talk about the fight then, since like you said, it could happen in February 6th. You I don't think you have to change anything. Obviously, you know more than us. Is there anything you think you have to change? Because she didn't. I watched her last fight. She didn't look any, I didn't see anything she changed. No.
SPEAKER_03:Um, I mean, I want to I don't want to give out anything, but I mean it doesn't matter anything. No, I don't really have to change anything. I'll just more angles, more angles, more combinations. Just keep on confusing her.
SPEAKER_00:And and you outworked her too. Like she got tired, and we know you're gonna outwork everybody.
SPEAKER_03:Yeah, that's my that's my best asset, is my engine.
SPEAKER_00:It's crazy.
SPEAKER_03:It goes and goes and goes. You can't stop it.
SPEAKER_00:Do you do you know who else is on that card? Do you can you say or no?
SPEAKER_03:It's not no, I uh no, I actually don't know who is.
SPEAKER_00:Okay.
SPEAKER_03:Again, I think it's still in the beginning works of it, so okay. Yeah, I have no clue.
SPEAKER_02:It's a Philly card, so but it's a fillier, and so it's these matchmakers, like so it's hard. Like, like the um we don't really know because we're not behind the scenes, but these matchmakers, how do they end up matching? Like, since you got a a title fight, you're gonna have a title fight. Like, how do they make which ones be the main events and all that? Like money, right?
SPEAKER_03:I mean, uh yeah, I uh yeah, honestly, you have to ask them, but yeah, it's the money. It's who's gonna bring the most who who's the most what's the biggest fight that these people want to see? So they're gonna make it the main event, obviously, right?
SPEAKER_02:Yeah, so if the main event gets like what if is it like a big name, right? Do that makes your money go up, probably go down.
SPEAKER_03:No, no, no, no, it's all based on your contract, to be honest. Okay, it's all based on your contract, and then the fight. Like, if I'm fighting for a belt, then yeah, I'm gonna get paid more.
SPEAKER_00:Okay, okay, okay. So that's that's like the but that's also like the scam. So like they get a belt, right? That's what, but then like they gotta pay for that belt.
SPEAKER_03:But then you gotta pay for that, yeah.
SPEAKER_00:It's like taxes, it's taxes, it's literally taxes.
SPEAKER_03:So like, am I making more or am I just paying out more?
SPEAKER_00:The more you make, but but I will say with the belt comes endorsements, and based on this convo, and and in general, when they create more belts and it confuses everybody, like now you watch a fight and a belt doesn't matter. Like in UFC, this is where UFC did it right. When it's a belt fight, it it matters. Now I gotta like, oh no, no, this is a real belt. And they're like, Well, what's a real belt? And I'm like, Well, it's uh it's it's the real belt.
SPEAKER_03:I know, like in the four belt, we're in the four belt era. We're like, what do you mean we're in the four belt era?
SPEAKER_00:What was it before? I'm like, and then the the ring belt, I gotta like explain they're like, Well, that's five belts.
SPEAKER_02:The ring belt is free, and that makes you the the person in the division, it's all like so no, I got a question. You can't do you have to pay for the interim belt too? Yeah, oh, this is robbery. And pay for it, yep. Even the lower belt.
SPEAKER_03:Robbery, that's the lower belt.
SPEAKER_00:This is robbery, sir.
SPEAKER_03:This is no good question because when I won it, I thought I didn't have to pay for it because you know it wasn't one of the four belts. And then when my manager's like, yep, you still do, I'm like, I lost my thumb for this belt.
SPEAKER_02:I lost my thumb and I still got a thing.
SPEAKER_00:Come on.
SPEAKER_02:Uh do they at least give you insurance? No.
SPEAKER_00:No, they give they give her a hat, they give her a hat. She gets a t-shirt.
SPEAKER_03:You know, I got the t-shirt. Yeah, I got the t-shirt and the hat. No, the only thing is I didn't have to pay for the ambulance or the uh hospital stay that night. But you know, and then when I would did rehab for my thumb, I had to pay my deductible. And once I got to the deductible, I didn't have to pay. But yeah, that's when I was like, I have to pay deductible? What? It's crazy.
SPEAKER_00:Hey, at least the thumb fixed. Whatever they did, it was worth it.
SPEAKER_03:I'm like, and all I had to do was squeeze balls. Wait, what? No, just and I'm like, come on, I can do this.
SPEAKER_00:Was was and let me ask you something, and you don't have to answer, but you're open anyway. But with with the OCD, was was the rehab hard? Like, because you know they make you you're like, it was fine.
SPEAKER_03:No, because I would like literally I would I went and bought my own equipment.
SPEAKER_00:Oh, okay. Yeah, yeah. Okay. That's why I had rehab once. I tore my bicep, and like I was like, oh god, like the the lady was massaging me, like she just massaged someone else, and I'm like, what the hell is oh you're talking about in that instance, too.
SPEAKER_03:So yeah. Uh they didn't, I mean, yeah, they would kind of stretch it out, but that was it. But dude, when I do get massages, I go to you know, I have two regulars that I go to and they know me, right? Okay, so they're right before they you know, they they show me, they put the sheets on, and then they're like, I'm gonna go wash my hands.
SPEAKER_00:It's like sweet. That's awesome. That's awesome.
SPEAKER_03:Oh, yeah, they they respect they respect it.
SPEAKER_00:You're getting by, but that's awesome that you do that. And again, Ginny is you're always on your Instagram promoting like mental health awareness, and you're in all these different organizations and groups, and and it it they need more of that, you know, because mental health is true. We all yeah. Is that your dog?
SPEAKER_02:Yeah, sorry.
SPEAKER_01:I have two dogs.
SPEAKER_03:I have two dogs.
SPEAKER_00:Okay, I'm like, yeah, mental health, I'm good.
SPEAKER_03:I know what's going on in the background.
SPEAKER_00:It's all good.
SPEAKER_02:As long as you don't got no cats, you did.
SPEAKER_03:I got I'll oh my god, I have one cat though, but there was actually a fight with my dog and cat earlier. They do not get along.
SPEAKER_00:So, what what is your your and we'll stick to boxing now? We're all over the place as usual, and and Ginny's sober today. We're all over the place. What what is your end goal? Like, obviously, the big name in your weight division, I I have to say, is Mizuki. I don't even know if I'm saying that. Oh, the Japan, yeah, I know.
SPEAKER_03:Yeah, again, I never know how to say my opponent's names, I feel, but I never do. But yeah, the girl from Japan.
SPEAKER_00:Mizuki Hirota. And you know, I've I've been hating on her because I'm team Ginny and and now in the Legal we're team Artiga too. So that's once you if you unify, we're gonna we're gonna have some issues, but it's all good. Uh it's part of the sport.
SPEAKER_03:It's okay, it's okay. I know who your favorite is. You know how it's okay. You don't have to say it.
SPEAKER_00:Don't worry, don't worry. Ginny DM'd us, she's like, You guys are funny, and I'm like, Oh god, this girl's great.
SPEAKER_03:Like, dang it, I want to be nice to her, but this girl's amazing.
SPEAKER_00:She's like, You guys are funny. But um yeah, so so is that like the she she has to be the money fight in your in your weight class, right?
SPEAKER_03:Well, my yeah, well, my end goal is to be undisputed and super fly weight, but I also, you know, because if things take So long, I also am willing to go down to fly weight and fight Fandora and then fight her one fight and become undisputed in flyweight, and then I'm gonna go back up and finish the job and super flyweight.
SPEAKER_00:Fondora, that's she she's on her way.
SPEAKER_03:That's it's so because you guys know I I I started off at flyweight, I was in the Olympics at flyweight. That was you know my original weight class.
SPEAKER_00:And you have no problem making weight though, because I like you're you're very light as it is, so like it is that believe it or not, it's and I don't want to say as I because I'm still young, but when I you know when you say when you get older, it's hard to lose weight.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_03:Literally, I feel like the older I get, the easier it is for me to make weight. Maybe I'm uh what do you call it? Benjamin But what's his name?
SPEAKER_00:Benjamin Button.
SPEAKER_03:Yeah, well, you know, he gets younger.
SPEAKER_02:Maybe you're just an alien. Genie the alien. You just know your body.
SPEAKER_03:I just know my body. Yeah, thank you, really. Thank you.
SPEAKER_00:That's it. You are you are always in the gym, too. And and you know what? We we actually love interviewing like the the women's boxers because you you guys all like you don't hold anything back, you're very open, there's no egos. A lot of times when we interview guys, there's like an ego involved, and we're like, we're we're egoists, we're two idiots. So like I know. So I love you guys. I love you guys.
SPEAKER_03:Yeah, ego always gets in the way of things, yeah.
SPEAKER_00:Yeah, and and I get it though. You know, you have to in this game, you have to have some kind of ego. But the the like even Jazz was confidence, though.
SPEAKER_03:I would say confidence more than anything.
SPEAKER_02:Like, so so I was just gonna say, like, so when I met Jazz, we was on a cruise. That was her first cruise ever. She never took a vacation, yeah. So I ended up seeing her on a cruise. That was my first cruise too. But we end up watching uh the Bud Crawford and Canelo fight together on her laptop. Because nobody was playing it on a cruise. Yeah, insane. Just met her at the bar. Just started talking boxing, it was crazy.
SPEAKER_00:Well, all right. Um, that being said, Ginny, we will. I I I you have my word, we will be there just like we were for your good friend Mikela ringside because Philly's a little dangerous, you know. We feel safe in New York, as weird as that sounds. So I might not be closing too much of a but for you, we will. For you, we will.
SPEAKER_03:Y'all be safe with me, don't worry.
SPEAKER_02:I'm gonna give I'm gonna give him a pair of butters. Yeah, no what butters are? No, what a peanut butter give him a what? No, some butters.
SPEAKER_03:Oh, butters. No, that must be a New York thing. I don't know what that means.
SPEAKER_02:It's some Timberland boots.
SPEAKER_03:Oh, that's what y'all call them?
SPEAKER_00:But I call them Timberland boots, but uh Willie calls them butters. They butters, yeah.
SPEAKER_03:We just call them boots in Texas.
SPEAKER_02:Oh, yeah, no, that was so Texas.
unknown:That's crazy.
SPEAKER_02:I gotta get some nice boots for Tennessee.
SPEAKER_00:You're going to Tennessee? Yeah, my daughter got a cheer competition. Yo, you're such a good dad, bro. This dude travels the world for his daughter, like all the states for his daughter. Like all the time, like we can't go to fights because he's like, Oh, I got a cheer competition. I'm like, come on, man. Like, yeah, be like you know when you how old is she?
SPEAKER_02:She's 10. But you know, when you're growing up and stuff, like you've been wanting your parents to be there, they don't be there all the time. Well, especially a father.
SPEAKER_03:So well, those it couldn't even have your dad did for you.
SPEAKER_00:No, that's your good dad.
SPEAKER_03:That's your good dad. Oh, I like that.
SPEAKER_00:Yo, Willie, Willie's dad is the funniest guy ever. He's a clown.
SPEAKER_03:Really, your dad?
SPEAKER_00:Yeah, he's a clown. But all right, JD, we're we're gonna get more carried away. Um, thank you so much for the time. You know, you're always welcome.
SPEAKER_02:I mean, you want to give us your thoughts on um uh Jake Paul the fight and all that? Did you watch it?
SPEAKER_00:Of course I watched it, yeah.
SPEAKER_02:Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_03:I mean, I would say, yeah, maybe I thought Anthony would have knocked him out a little sooner, but Jake Paul had the right plan by keep moving, don't let this guy get on me. So I gotta give Jake Paul props, right?
SPEAKER_01:Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_03:And hell, hell, he got in there with Anthony Joshua. And I've met Anthony, he's he's big, right? He's huge. So I give I give Jake props for that, you know, in fighting him.
SPEAKER_00:And yo, also Jake Paul surprised me. Uh with he he was taking shots. I thought like he'd quit and he didn't. So I can't I I mean he's gonna get paid either way. I would have you would have hit me with that, would have been like, all right, I'm out of here.
SPEAKER_02:Came out with the Hulk Hogan, I thought this was about to be wrestling.
SPEAKER_03:Yeah, that was a nice fit. I do like that.
SPEAKER_00:I like gator too. That was real gator with six nine on here.
SPEAKER_03:He made it, yeah, yeah. I saw that.
SPEAKER_00:He's a king at going viral, so he he really is the king at going viral, and that's that's what it's about. Yeah, he knows what he's doing.
SPEAKER_02:And there was a there was a lot of woman boxing on there. How do you like the girls? We had uh Alicia Boys. Well, so I didn't know Alicia.
SPEAKER_03:I didn't get to see the other girls, I only saw Alicia's.
SPEAKER_00:She did three minutes. What's your take on that? Well, let me ask you that while while we still have you the three minutes and 12 rounds.
SPEAKER_03:Well, that's I like that. I mean, why why just because we're females, we gotta do less? I mean, to me, that's a little disrespectful. I mean, we're the ones who give labor. I think that's the hardest thing in the world to do. It's like we can't handle three uh 12, three-minute rounds. Come on.
SPEAKER_00:I even I take a big poop and I'm like crying.
SPEAKER_02:So it's only imagining labor is like but I kind of I kinda I kind of felt bad for that girl. She was taking a beat in it for a long time.
SPEAKER_00:Oh, yeah.
SPEAKER_02:Um I know they had to they wanted to last the 12 rounds, but that girl was taking a beat.
SPEAKER_00:I actually gotta give the girls props though, because she knocked her down and it was a huge ring, it was a massive ring, and and you know, that in women's boxing knockdowns aren't as common. And that like even uh what was it, Dubois? Dubois's sister.
SPEAKER_03:Wait, wait, what well what fight? Alicia didn't get knocked down. Who are you talking about?
SPEAKER_00:No, no, Alicia knocked her down though. Oh, oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_03:Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_00:And I wasn't expecting that in that big ass ring. So the girls came to fight, you know what I mean? They weren't running like you girls always do. Yeah. Um, but also Danny Dubois's sister was fighting. Yeah, Caroline.
SPEAKER_03:So I didn't get to watch that fight. How was it?
SPEAKER_00:Caroline, she got some power. She she could crack. I'm not gonna lie, she she got some power. She dropped the girl too.
SPEAKER_02:But she dropped it too.
SPEAKER_00:Yeah, but again, you know, there is different levels. Bump Bum Gardner was clearly a level above because of your good friend Michaela. He's gonna get mad. Well, she's gonna get mad. She's a bum gardener fan.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_02:Oh, you remember that last night, you watch it. He's gonna get mad because Michaela lost.
SPEAKER_00:She knows the same thing. There's a lot of politics, as we know.
SPEAKER_02:I meant to bring that up. Next time I see Alicia, I'm gonna bring her up right in front of you.
SPEAKER_00:Listen, everyone's cool. Honestly, we the boxers, even the ones that hate us, because you know, we we have our opinions on here, and there's some that hate us, even they're cool in person. You guys are all cool. Uh, all the boxers are the most approachable athletes, and um especially and and Ginny's just as real as it gets. So you thank you, thank you, thank you.
SPEAKER_03:I hate fake people. I hate fakeness in every every way.
SPEAKER_00:So it's the worst. So yeah, and Ginny is the real deal. And February 6th, she's gonna get that real belt. And uh, yeah, 100% we will we will be there. At least one of us. Um, well, uh me. I'm definitely gonna be there.
SPEAKER_03:I'm seriously thinking about make since I'm fighting Ruiz again. Yeah, if I fight her again, remember the shirt idea we were thinking of? What is it? What was that?
SPEAKER_00:Oh, the the the pirate, something with the pirate stuff.
SPEAKER_03:But it was like related to the thumbs. Yeah, I was I was gonna make that shirt for this fight, but I'll look back.
SPEAKER_00:I I forget, but it was good. It was good.
SPEAKER_03:Well last podcast.
SPEAKER_00:Yeah, yeah, yeah. I'll I'll figure it out.
