When Boxing Loses Its Crowd: How The NYC Experiment Failed the Fans and More
The boxing world experienced a rollercoaster Cinco de Mayo or Stinko de Mayo weekend featuring Teofimo Lopez's dominant performance, Devin Haney's confidence issues, Rolly Romero's massive upset, and Naoya Inoue proving his championship mettle despite getting knocked down.
• Turk's Times Square experiment looked visually impressive but failed by blocking thousands of fans outside with a red wall around the ring
• Lopez dominated Barboza Jr. with superior skills but faces questions about his ambitious move to challenge Boots Ennis at 147 pounds
• Haney defeated Ramirez but showed clear mental trauma from the Garcia fight with timid movement and visible reactions to being hit
• Rolly Romero upset Ryan Garcia with disciplined technique, pinning Garcia's lead hand and landing a perfectly timed counter
• Garcia appeared subdued compared to his pre-Haney fight persona, raising questions about his mental approach
• Canelo continued his one-shot power punching style in his victory over Scull before the announcement of his fight with Crawford
• Naoya Inoue got knocked down twice with the same punch but adjusted brilliantly to secure a knockout victory
• Shu Shu is being avoided by champions despite being the number one contender across multiple organizations
It's time for the main event. It's the Spar In Podcast.
Speaker 2:Oh it's a knockout, Yo, what is going on? Welcome to episode 63 of the Spar In Boxing Podcast. Happy Cinco de Mayo. Willie is in for those listening. Willie is dressed for the occasion. It is in fact Cinco de Mayo. We're coming off a Stinko de Mayo weekend, though it was a horrible weekend of boxing well until Sunday, the Lord's Day. Naya Inouye saved us, but we have a packed show, super packed show. I think he saved us though. I mean it was entertaining. Yeah, it was entertaining. We'll get there. We'll get there.
Speaker 1:Somebody saved it before him, though who? We'll get there, we'll get there.
Speaker 2:Okay, I guess we will get there. Oh, I know who His favorite fighter. Anyway, not naive, I wasn't even talking about him, that's crazy. Willie, I wasn't even talking about him, that's crazy Willie oh. Willie is wearing a sombrero over his headphones. It's probably going to fall off.
Speaker 1:Yeah, he is very Latino today.
Speaker 2:Good for him. I'm going to try and keep this as PG as possible because we have a visitor. We got a visitor here. Willie's child, who's like tall as an adult, is over here spect, so I'm gonna try and keep it pg. It's probably not gonna happen, but his kid has uh headphones on for those listening. So, willie, are you sick of boxing? Sick of boxing?
Speaker 1:why would I be sick of boxing we had a we had a long boxing week. Yo this, yeah, yeah, oh, that's what you mean. Yeah, kind of sort of I'm sick of New York City. That's why I'm sick of it.
Speaker 2:So first, we went and fanboyed TO oh yeah, that's Sunday.
Speaker 1:He did a little thing at the Super Rare Fight Shop On my rest day. We went to go, you know.
Speaker 2:The Lower East Side. Yeah, oh, and then what was that? Friday we went to the weigh-in, to the weigh-in.
Speaker 1:No Thursday. Thursday Thursday we went to the weigh-in.
Speaker 2:Thursday yeah, I got an impulse. I got a little hair in my ass. There I go. We're not PG anymore.
Speaker 1:And I was like you know what, let's just go to the weigh-in dude, because there's a lot of things going on.
Speaker 2:Oh yeah, oh yeah. Yeah, that's yo, did you? Let's talk about that. That one crazy guy that just approached me out of nowhere on the when we're leaving that was oh, when you leave it yeah yeah, um he, he, I guess owed him something. I don don't know, Some guy said I owed him money or something.
Speaker 1:I'm like yeah, he said yo you got me. You say you got me. He said no, I didn't.
Speaker 2:And that's going to play into this show too, because I have something to say about the crazy people of New York City.
Speaker 1:Imagine if they knew who the fighters was. Yeah, right.
Speaker 2:If a homeless person knew who the fighter was, probably the accent from a million things. But hey, man, uh. So turk did his thing. He, he did something that's never been done. He uh been done. He kind of duped us. Like I said, I was right twice in this card, let's just get right into it as usual. Uh, uh. What two things do you think I was right about, willie?
Speaker 1:um, how the event was going to be, and a hundred percent right about that. It wasn't a hundred percent free.
Speaker 2:That too, but I made. I lost all my bets. I lost every bet. There was a lot of stuff that happened that nobody expected. But one thing I was right about that I didn't bet on, but I I did.
Speaker 1:live dog you wasn't right about the live dog.
Speaker 2:I said Rolando Romero is a live dog and you know what? We met him at the weigh-in. He is exactly what he looks like. He might be the only one. That is exactly what he is. Doesn't try anything. Doesn't try to be something he's not. I'm a fan.
Speaker 1:Yeah, I like him too. I'm a fan. Now, I'm definitely a fan. He's exactly how he is when you see his interviews and he say ridiculous stuff. Exactly the same and he just sit there, you say something to him, and then he thinks for like five seconds, and then he Then come up with some outranges, yeah, but it looks like he's thinking to say something right and then he just says something crazy.
Speaker 2:So basically, what we're talking about is when I I gotta keep this as PG as possible.
Speaker 1:I mean when I say nothing crazy.
Speaker 2:Yeah, when I saw him, or when we saw him, we're talking to him some and I'm like, hey, man, I said something about feet, because I know he has like a thing for feet, and he looked at us like what do you mean? You don't suck toes, yeah.
Speaker 1:That sound bite would have been crazy.
Speaker 2:Yeah, yeah, sound bite man.
Speaker 1:Shout out to our camera.
Speaker 2:Yeah, yeah, yo. So so my wife, my wife, my wife was there. She didn't want to be there, but she was there. She helped us with the whole event and everything, and she was just taking tons of pictures and stuff, but she did not record enough, so we got a little scrap. You, she's a trooper though, so shout out to her um, she could have done better though, but she's a shane mosley fan I uh, oh yeah, shane mosley, yo and dude.
Speaker 2:Uh, without being disrespectful to shane mosley, he's a legend. We bumped into him, we met him. Uh, fighters do need like some kind of like health insurance. Yeah, like something, because, for sure, shane mosley's in his 50s, early 50s, and it did not appear that way. That's all I'm going to say. Great with us, though. Awesome, nice guy, and I don't know he was with Team DHP.
Speaker 1:Yeah.
Speaker 2:DHP Devin Haney Promotions, and I don't know what he did in there, but it.
Speaker 1:They had the ill outfit. Yeah, that's it, though. So it was like some little short asian lady and I was like. I went up to her like yo, your fit is fire. She was like, and then she started trying to do a handshake with me. I'm like she's like oh, I thought she was team dmp. I'm like I mean, uh, wait, dhp. I'm like, wow, this is crazy hey, you show me the handshake. Anyway, I'm like spots and stuff that that's funny. Shout out to Blue Bloods TV man, he's a part of that team too.
Speaker 1:I don't think he is. Is he a part of the team? I mean, pretty much He'd be at the Haney's house and chilling Really. Yeah, he was like I'll bring you over there and stuff.
Speaker 2:Long Island has a.
Speaker 1:So he's really close with the Haney's Really, that's cool though.
Speaker 2:The dad, though when you talk to him, like outside of him talking smack for Haney and being Haney's mouthpiece behind the scenes, he really is cool to talk to about boxing. Oh yeah, yeah.
Speaker 1:He was like what up, king? And he's like that's it. I kept on walking, which is what he shows with the Haney stuff. Never gave. Devin gave me a pound, but they was moving like tight flight security in the world.
Speaker 2:Craig, Somebody grabbed him. We really got that on camera Like his friend or something. There was someone that knew him.
Speaker 1:Somebody grabbed him up. Yeah, but he was talking to the dude, was talking to you, like oh. Devin's my people. But when he grabbed him like that, it's like Devin was like yo get the fuck off, you just grabbing on them like that. But I know like if that's your people's or whatever, you're not going to sit there and go hard get his attention like yo.
Speaker 2:I'm here, so I'm the long lost cousin speaking on that. Like one thing I did notice and this was my first real like well, not, I've been behind the scenes a few times, but like my first, like way in behind the scenes type of I don't know a big event, I I guess A real big.
Speaker 1:That was a huge event.
Speaker 2:That was a huge event for us to be at. Yeah, yeah, definitely, and I'm glad we just went to that. But we'll get into the whole semantics of the whole boxing drama, but we should have went to the we should have went to the fight Nah. Yeah, bro, we would have had like 2,000 followers.
Speaker 2:I ain't gonna lie, all right, so I'll just get into it real quick then, but, like we've been stressed though, but it's still hold on, hold on. Let me just a hell of content. What the hell was I gonna say? I don't know. Interrupt me, man. This is payback, though, because I did have a little fight party yeah, I was interrupting everybody.
Speaker 2:Yeah, he was for those that don't know. I only usually. I mean, I get like that every now and then, but when teo fights on teo fight weeks, I get a little super crazy because I'm a super fan and I have something funny about that too and he performed great, he did, he did Well good.
Speaker 2:But alright, let's just get into the event itself. We are all over the place on Cinco de Mayo Turk, man, turk. The one thing, like I started the show saying I was right about he did it again, he did it again, he did it again. Yeah, he put on a great event. For the eyes it was awesome. But what was it missing? The fans, us, it was missing the fans.
Speaker 1:It was missing the sparring and all the sparring followers, because the sparring followers are loyal and they are rowdy too. Yes, y'all are just as annoying as us when we go to the fight.
Speaker 2:But it felt like just weird. It felt like some king was in his castle and everybody was outside the castle and they were throwing him bread.
Speaker 1:They haven't eaten in a while. Even the people that rented hotels and stuff couldn't see it, and it's not fair because the guy we met from Texas.
Speaker 2:People were coming all over the world to see this, which was it was not advertised right.
Speaker 1:Texas was over there trying to pay People from Dallas was trying to pay, trying to pay the restaurants like Taco Bell right there To let them in bro, how messed up is that? And the whole thing was blocked off. You can't have a scene Nothing but the crazy part. They set it up like, oh, they didn't put the thing, they put nothing but the crazy part.
Speaker 2:They set it up like, oh, they didn't put the thing they put up the red uh ring thing around it. I didn't like that either afterwards. Afterwards, because the day before it was clear like we could see the ring we can see just, and they should have left that at least, if you're gonna do that like a stone, a steel cage match it felt just like covid, felt just like covid, like it was COVID 2.0.
Speaker 2:And some of the fighters said that. But one thing I did notice what Turk did good, the only thing promoting this card. He did good in my opinion was, I think, like when have you ever been in New York City, or even close to New York City, and not heard a siren, not heard a horn, not heard a crazy homeless guy yelling, not heard someone? Screaming on the TV. I didn't hear anything. Dude, I think he should run for mayor.
Speaker 1:Yeah, that was crazy. He cleaned up the city, bro. He cleaned up the city, he cleaned up the city.
Speaker 2:I didn't hear none of that.
Speaker 1:right, it's an election, but the crazy part that you said that because Ryan was complaining about Ryan was complaining about the volume, like everything going on outside.
Speaker 2:He said he could hear everybody.
Speaker 1:He could hear everybody, so it was messed up, yeah.
Speaker 2:He said it felt like sparring or something but I mean, I think ryan will get into the fights itself once we get done with this whole extravaganza of my gripes and complaints with turkey that was crazy, though.
Speaker 1:That's crazy how we definitely didn't hear it just paid like we. We was, maybe was drinking too much, but no, there was. No, it was silence, bro.
Speaker 2:It was silence in a city that never sleeps. The city fell asleep, thank you. Thank you, turk. Yo, that's crazy. What is the Jay-Z quote? City never sleeps. Better slip you an Ambien, yeah, or just put on a fight in Times Square and let.
Speaker 1:Turk throw it. I'm not good with rap lyrics. I always mumble, I mumble every song.
Speaker 2:Nah, but you know that that's the Empire State of Mind song.
Speaker 1:Yeah, but I know a song but I still don't know the lyrics City never sleeps.
Speaker 2:Better have Turk throw a fight.
Speaker 1:It was a great effort, bro. I mean it's never been done, but yo, you got to expect it from New York City. You're not going to be able to do nothing, yeah, so I know it's a safety hazard and everything Just I don't like the way they marked it Like they lied, dude, they lied Like they lied, dude, they lied there was thousands of people outside these gates. I had to give them the benefit of the doubt because they tried. You know what I'm saying. But we expected. We know New York City.
Speaker 2:Why not throw that fight in?
Speaker 1:MSG. Why not try that? They're going to why not try that?
Speaker 2:They ain't going back outside. Yeah, why not throw that?
Speaker 1:fight in MSG. I was telling people this was going to be the first and last time I think he knew he wasn't going to get Alcatraz, because that felt like Alcatraz.
Speaker 2:Red walls bro.
Speaker 1:You're trapped in there. That's crazy, alcatraz, I'm crying.
Speaker 2:It was Alcatraz, alcatraz in New York.
Speaker 1:City bro, yo that's fire.
Speaker 2:Rebirth Island. It just wasn't. It wasn't a boxing field. Dude, you need drunk people in the crowd. You need regular fans, not just immediate family and rich people and pros, because the pros aren't going to eat, they're professional right.
Speaker 1:Yeah, they're professional. You can see that they're professional, but you see Iron Mike and them.
Speaker 2:They was having so much fun. The loudest props to Keyshawn, because he was the loudest fan out there. Yeah, yeah, keyshawn, he was doing a real boxing thing.
Speaker 1:They were just talking mad crazy and they was joking all the time. It looked the kind of stage because it was like they was over there like, yeah, right, keep your, or something like keep your hands up. I don't know who they were talking about. They was like, yeah, keep your hands up.
Speaker 2:And Mike Tyson was like too. Yeah, I didn't even see him. Yeah, you know what I thought was corny though what?
Speaker 2:and and this is another another good thing for roly, another thing I liked about roly when you're like they, they had they took cars like weird cars to the to the time Square to enter, like to walk in, so they get out of a car and then walk a little bit and go through the pearly red gates and Roley walked through the city. People were running up to him. He walked through the city to get there, which I liked, and I don't know if it was apparently there's some drama with that and I'll get into that in a second but Roley walked through the city so fans were running up to him and that was a cool visual Not when TO came in in this like little taxi thing that looked really uncomfortable and stupid.
Speaker 2:The Batmobile thing looked dumb too. I didn't like that.
Speaker 1:Oh yeah, ryan, talking about the fucking fumes. Oh man Coming up. Yo stop with the excuses.
Speaker 2:But I kind of agree with him there. Did you see that taxi cab thing, though? And TO trying to get out?
Speaker 1:of there. I missed that part because I was late to the party. Anyway, that's another thing. It started way too early, yeah, which was good, but it wasn't advertised as that early um, what I was gonna say about the the taxi thing, he, he didn't know about it until the day before. That's the crazy part.
Speaker 2:Who to oh, he didn't know he didn't know that wasn't his idea they didn't know the best. The best clip was walking through the city rolly. Yeah, that was awesome man that was yeah, that was dope.
Speaker 1:That was dope, I think I think, I think. No, I, I like, I like the idea, but nah, nah, bro, not in New York City, no, but the fighter have to be outside, you know what I'm saying, yeah. Like Roley was Kind of, Ryan had the top down and you can actually see him. You know what the problem is.
Speaker 2:It just hit me.
Speaker 1:The old dude's got the taxi. Old school taxi is cool too.
Speaker 2:Nah, that thing was stupid. Yeah, that thing, that thing, you couldn't even fit in it. It didn't even look like an old. When have you seen a taxi?
Speaker 1:I didn't get to see it, so I didn't see it like really, but he had the like the 50 cent vest on.
Speaker 2:Yeah with the NYPD thing that was cool, that was dope. I'm just saying coming out of that taxi, I'm like what the hell? This looks stupid. He didn't like that.
Speaker 1:I should have gave him that NYPD truck. You know, it's like you're playing WWE SmackDown.
Speaker 2:But imagine him walking through the city with that on Like. Imagine him walking through the city with that on Like many men, yeah, many, many many, many men. Like Roley did, though, like the visuals of that, and you know what they took out of New York City. Yeah, what makes New York City New York City, like the sounds, the smells, the dirtiness, the drunks, the rich, the combination yeah, that's the only one. Elmo was in, elmo got in.
Speaker 1:Elmo got in. Yeah, Like what I would have dressed up boy.
Speaker 2:They just missed it. They missed it for me, man.
Speaker 1:Elmo got in man Freaking Deadpool probably did.
Speaker 2:I can't give hate too much.
Speaker 1:You're right, because someone did get shot there, like two days prior, yo, an event still went. I think they controlled the weather Conspiracy theories. I think they controlled the weather because how it rained in the morning and then they just had a nice fight in the middle of the day. I don't know, willie, it's crazy how the it just happens for turk.
Speaker 2:They were ready, they had an overhang they was gonna, it's gonna rain, it's gonna still fight.
Speaker 1:Yeah, there was an overhang, oh okay over the ring anyway. Uh, I didn't hear that conspiracy from now on.
Speaker 2:But all right, let's get into the fights themselves. Enough about the event that everybody watched or didn't watch, or fell asleep, whatever your opinion of it was, you know ours, the media, though. One more thing, actually, I'm lying the media, the boxing media, really impressed me. What do you mean? Because Turk has all this money, a lot of the boxing pundits and strong opinionated boxing people are out.
Speaker 2:A lot of people wasn't kissing the ring, yeah, and they came out and they said basically in some in substance what I just said. So it was good to see. Yeah, they were like wow.
Speaker 1:They took a fan perspective. A lot of people wasn't invited, yeah, and it was and not only that.
Speaker 2:So now we're going to get into the fights when the fights are duds. Right, you need the crowd. You need the crowd. There was two or three duds, so when the fights are duds, right, you need the crowd. You need that excitement. You need to hear them yelling, booing, whatever.
Speaker 1:It was, just silence and dud, because the other fighters didn't really care. I don't know if they didn't care, but we'll talk about TO first We'll go in order.
Speaker 2:We've got to stay a little organized here on Stinko de Mayo. Just kidding.
Speaker 1:Stinko de Mayo.
Speaker 2:Because it wasn't Stinko, because a top-ranked card saved it last night.
Speaker 1:Sunday night boxing. I know ESPN like yo. We need to keep them.
Speaker 2:TFimo Lopez versus Arnold Barbosa. What'd you think, Willie? The fight itself.
Speaker 1:The fight itself. I mean, it went how I expected it to go, but man, tio man, what is going on? Man, you disappointed me because you could have stopped that man. You could have stopped him. I mean, yes, oh, barbosa got a great turn, little bad, while I have a bait twin. But willie, willie hates little baba I don't know why.
Speaker 2:I think he looked he yo, he saw him at the wave. He was cool at the wave.
Speaker 1:No, he didn't even look like yo. I've seen this guy before like it, but that's the whole crazy thing about doing this is like yo, you might say something ridiculous and they might hear it, but get, get ready to bob and weave. Guess what it showed. He wasn't on TO's level. I knew that for a fact. I knew that was going down. I just think TO could have stopped him with more combinations and he said it himself that he could have done more combinations and his combination, what he did, was crazy. He caught him like a four piece, but I think he was trying to like His check hook really impressed me.
Speaker 1:Yeah, he was trying to, that's what I'm saying His counters he was trying to put him out with the counters. Yeah, that was his main thing. He wasn't trying to put him out with the combinations. He would have caught him with some combinations. Man Bow claim.
Speaker 2:A little bow claim but doing nothing. Sturdy fighter, he's tough and he didn't come there to lose. So you know, he trained, he just was. Tio was on a totally different level than Barbosa, I mean, yeah. One thing I don't like, though, about like and this is just for like. The Tio haters, right, they're like, yeah, but did you see him get clipped with that one? Right, that cut his eye? And I'm like yeah, I saw him get clipped and it looked like a little elbow nipped him, and I'm not being biased after he punched him, but whatever, yeah, okay, cool, he got clipped with one punch, all right, he pitched a shutout dude. Yeah, he, okay, so give him that round if you want to. He's like and that's arguable that's a complete shutout.
Speaker 2:One round because of one combination but that even even that is arguable like teo still could have won that round. It was was one punch.
Speaker 1:Yeah, I love TO's loose man. He looked like the content that he'd been making. He was dancing around having fun. That's what it's about. You get in that flow state and you put in work. He was dancing around. Little Muhammad Ali footwork yeah, dodging everything. Little Bow-B Bow was too slow, he was too slow.
Speaker 2:Why do you call him Lil Bow?
Speaker 1:Bow, I don't know. Barbos, lil Barbo, lil Barbo, I don't know. All right.
Speaker 2:But yo listen again. But it was just. You see the levels in boxing and this was a different level. Now, apparently and I'm the biggest TO fanboy ever, it's known I called him a million times after the fight. He didn't answer once. Damn Sorry, don't block me, I was drunk. But TO listen, moving up to 147, I don't think Jarrett Poutsen, is it man?
Speaker 1:He's daring to be great and he's got labels of steel. I respect it, but he's going to have to do a little bit more if that's the case. He's going to have to be a little bit more. He should be stopping this guy If you think he's going to be going up to boots and thinking that's going to be sweet. But you know what I respect. Now I see why you like him, because he's daring to be great Wait a minute.
Speaker 2:Did we convert T?
Speaker 1:Man. I don't know man Did we convert Willie to a TO fan. I am a TO fan right now.
Speaker 2:Yeah, I think I learned His daughter just looked at him like whoa.
Speaker 1:I learned to like this guy man. Wow, it's crazy. He always say some crazy shit, but he be saying some real Can you just say that one more time.
Speaker 1:Listen TO said today. He said well, I heard it today. And he's like oh man, I think I'm going through like a Like his rehydration is hard for him. So he's like, yeah, I got an iron deficiency right. And then he's like, oh, I'm on this Dr Sebi diet. I'm like yo, this guy know everything. Yo, as dr sabie die, I'm like yo, this guy know everything. Yo, this guy to bro t.
Speaker 1:I've been telling you that to be knowing shit that he's been speaking very highly, yes, yes, and he cool as hell, he's cool in person.
Speaker 2:He is cool, yeah, he's cool. Oh, my goodness to, if you're listening. We've done it. We've done the unthinkable.
Speaker 1:I'm still still taking him. I'm taking Tank over him, blah, blah, blah Still. You see what I mean, but anyway, but yeah, don't make me take off the shirt. Ah, ah, yeah, don't do that.
Speaker 2:Tio, no, but see, that's the thing, though. Don't do that, tio. You know who? Someone else that was speaking highly. This is what he does, though. When Tio performs right, everyone speaks highly of him. When he has a bad outing, everyone goes against him. Just the only thing I will say is Boots Ennis is a monster. Yeah, he is, and he's a true 154-pounder. He's growing, yes, so at 147, and I am probably the biggest Tio fan on this planet at 147,. It's going to be real hard for Tio to match that size, that's all, but you know who I'm backing.
Speaker 1:He's fucking tiny bro, and I will say this I didn't see Boots in real life, but we've seen Tio.
Speaker 2:He's not that big, but the last time we doubted Tio, when he was a big underdog, was Lomachenko. And something about him when he calls out fighters and they've been calling him out since they got to 140, he does this thing, so I'm rooting for him. I'm not being too biased, I understand that, and hey, he's daring to be great.
Speaker 1:Dan, they said they was like yeah, he was like. Barboza wasn't even ready, he wasn't ready man?
Speaker 2:What do you mean? He wasn't ready.
Speaker 1:He said that his father TO's father Senior, was like yo he wasn't ready.
Speaker 2:He's not at that level yet.
Speaker 1:Oh yeah, yeah, yeah. You know what I'm saying. I thought you meant like 32 fights and he's still not at that level. It's crazy.
Speaker 2:I thought you meant Barbosa's team was like he know. Hey, again. Good on TO.
Speaker 1:Look how you be a nice to Babosa man. Well, I guess he did good.
Speaker 2:He did what we expected.
Speaker 1:Yeah, one-two.
Speaker 2:One-two. Listen, he shot his shot too. He's been calling TO out forever.
Speaker 1:So he got his opportunity. He got his opportunity, hopefully he gets some. I don't know what's next for him.
Speaker 2:You know what he does good. It obviously didn't work with Tio because he's on that other level athletically and just experience-wise, but he does really good at winning rounds. Boringly. He didn't win no rounds no, no versus Tio.
Speaker 1:But if you look at, Jack Carroll that's my guy, though I like him. Yeah, I like Jack. That fight was really close, but yeah, that was really close. He should have even won that one. Honestly, that's my boy but haney.
Speaker 2:If you look at haney versus ramirez and then you look at ramirez versus barbosa, I mean I think barbosa did better versus ramirez than haney did yeah, because let's talk about it, let's talk about it, devin was seeing ghosts.
Speaker 1:I said this before. I said it before the fight. I'm like yo. I'm scared if he's going to see ghosts or not.
Speaker 2:This is a win on paper for Haney. No, this is a lose. This is not a win for his fans, he lost. This didn't tell us anything other than the fact that that Ryan Garcia fight really did affect him mentally, and we wanted Devin to beat Ryan.
Speaker 1:We both picked Ryan.
Speaker 2:I mean Devin.
Speaker 1:We both picked Devin to win and the crazy part is, like yo, it comes to this point now that he got hit and then his neck is just jerking a jab His neck the first time he got hit. It's like, oh man, hold up. You can tell that he's bothered and I saw Tim Bradley said it, but I said it before Tim Bradley, I said it. He might see ghosts and I knew this fight was going to go the distance off the backhand just because of that. But he fooled us because he was looking ripped.
Speaker 2:You was like yo, yeah jack in that in a way, and haney looked if anyone was on juice. If you had to pick one person you think is on roids that way and I'm not saying he is and devon is cool too it looked like haney, just walk around, he's cool friend look like haney, looked like he would.
Speaker 1:That dude's abs had biceps, bro, I've never seen he was he was ripped and and you was like, yeah, he's gonna get the stoppage. I think so, I think so. But then I'm like, nah, he looks like he came into the fight. Like you know, when you get hit and you lose your legs, like he came into the fight with lost legs and he's just running, running like when you sparring and like running running every time he got hit, his legs looked like they turned into noodles.
Speaker 1:His neck looked like it was connected to his spleen.
Speaker 2:Which isn't good. Now I'll say this though If TO does decide to go to 147, right, I don't want him to fight Boots right away, Fight Devin. But shit, I'll fight Devin at 147.
Speaker 1:Oh man, that's not right. That Fight Devin.
Speaker 2:But shit, I'll fight Devin at 147. Oh man, that's not right. That's good buildup, there's beef, that's big money.
Speaker 1:And you know what this is so bad, man, that?
Speaker 2:brings us to the next thing Ryan Garcia.
Speaker 1:No, but Devin. Oh man, it was so disappointing seeing him do that man. He lost it. His jab is usually beautiful. He barely threw it. It looked like he lost his mojo he lost everything.
Speaker 2:He had no mojo. He there's mojo in boxing he had no mojo.
Speaker 1:He's like. He's like roy versus tarba, I think he's just like he lost it. He I don't know. If he like forget, I want to get one.
Speaker 2:I want to get a picture of him at the way in, though, because if you would have saw him at the lane, like this guy, he's still one he's still one the way that he I it looked like it was a game plan, um, but I didn't.
Speaker 1:he made it seem like he was. That's what's wrong with it. He, he came to the like the conference, the way in, and he talking, and he's talking about um, like stopping him, like like, oh, I'm gonna get, I'm gonna get him out of here and I'm gonna go get ryan stop, stop. And then I'm going to go get Ryan Stop making us feel like I thought he was going to stop. Yeah, stop making the fans feel like yo, you're going to really go crazy and then you go in there and do that and he's so talented it's just like damn bro it's just you.
Speaker 1:Yo Punch could change your life, a punch can change your life. A punch could change your life, man, I ain't going to lie.
Speaker 2:He was like I don't understand how. He was like knocking down Progray.
Speaker 1:Yo, he beat the crap out of. Progray, yeah, and you know even he beat the crap out of Progray.
Speaker 2:That wasn't the same, haney that fought Lomachenko. I mean, I had Lomachenko winning that fight, but that wasn't the same.
Speaker 1:Haney that fought. Something's really going on with Devin Manning. We got to keep him in our prayers because he needs to bounce back A fight like this was for him to get his confidence back.
Speaker 2:right? Yes, Ramirez lost to Barboza. This was for Haney to get his confidence back. Ramirez looked crazy.
Speaker 1:He looked crazy. Think about it. I thought he was going to pull it off, but he didn't want to punch either.
Speaker 2:Well, that's just how he fights, like that, you know what I mean. Like that chin down. That's what I said. Or maybe he just couldn't catch him, I don't know. So let me ask you something. So we both agree, this fight was for him to get his confidence back.
Speaker 1:Yes, it was Right. Do you think he got? Because they was making it seem like he had the worst low. They had the worst low punch count and Canelo was worse. I know I was going to get into that later.
Speaker 2:I don't want to cook Haney too much on that. He won rounds, yes, but in regards to the level of competition, I just wish he engaged more and he could have.
Speaker 1:I don't know if he knew that Jose had power in both hands, you know what it was.
Speaker 2:Man, yeah, Garci is still haunting him. He's seeing ghosts.
Speaker 1:Bro Garci is still haunting him, see, but if he would have had a great performance, guess what? Ryan didn't have a great performance.
Speaker 2:So now that's next. Apparently Turk is putting that fight together. Performance so now that's next. Apparently Turk is putting that fight together. Yeah, so do you want to see that like that? Yeah, because and I'll tell you why real quick Ryan Garcia also looked different. He did not look the same, and I'm not going to say physically, I didn't see much differences physically, was it the ostre? But I will say he looked when he got knocked down. It was it for him too. He's like, wow, roley could punch, and that was it. That was it for him too. Same same thing. But I will say this something is going on with Ryan Garcia. Like Ryan Garcia was so crazy in the Devin Haney buildup. Yeah, that was his dog, that was the dog in him, like like a crackhead. When a crackhead wants a crack, he's coming, he's coming. I think that's an important thing to have. Yeah, and that's his version of getting up. That's how he got up for the fight. Was this mother effer? I'm crazy, I'm drinking blah, blah blah.
Speaker 1:I said that same shit about when Tank was fighting Roach he didn't feel the same and you need that fire right and Roley and then Philistine.
Speaker 2:It's like when a really crazy drug addict or whatever finds Jesus and they meet them again, but they had beef. Garcia found Jesus. He's just sedated. He's sedated Ryan right now. We don't want that Ryan. Turk didn't want that Ryan in the build up he wanted all these personalities to start clashing, you still can find Jesus and still find that area where you reach down deep.
Speaker 1:You gotta reach down deep and then bring it out of you, or something Like the dudes in prison that find Jesus. Yeah, they'll still be like.
Speaker 2:Kill him. You know what I mean. It was weird to see, though. It was very weird to see. It was weird to see he was subdued by Roley and he didn't like Roley and he was subdued by Roley and he didn't like Roley. And the one thing going for Ryan is he really doesn't like the Haney's. So I think he will get up for this fight. I think, yeah, he knows if listen, if he was using roids and he thinks he can't knock him out without roids, then he won't.
Speaker 2:But if he knocked him down once and Haney's going to be scared as hell.
Speaker 1:Ryan, from what we saw first, I don't think anyone wants Garcia, I don't know man, I don't know man, I don't know, and it's crazy, his family is so cool.
Speaker 2:No, they're all cool. They was so cool we got to keep it real about the sport. They was cool man.
Speaker 1:But it was bad to see how you see ghosts and when that ghost is coming to haunt you in that ring. I don't know what Devin's going to do that night that they fight again.
Speaker 2:I really don't yeah if Devin looks that timid versus Ramirez, right yeah. And then he sees Ryan Garcia and if Ryan comes to the buildup acting all crazy, not subdued, like he was right, gets crazy again, going nuts again, getting in trouble Like trashing hotel rooms, like a rock star. If that Ryan shows up, haney's in trouble. But it could go the other way, because maybe Ryan was using steroids and he doesn't think he can knock him out without them.
Speaker 1:That's crazy, because after people use like just pop 30. After they pop 30, and they got like their next fight up, they don't look good.
Speaker 2:It's crazy, time and time again, time and time again, they don't look good, yeah, it's crazy.
Speaker 1:There's some truth to it? Yeah, there might be some truth to it, Ryan. So your conspiracy, I don't know. We don't like it, no more. I ain't going to lie to you.
Speaker 2:Again, though the whole event. It was a good idea In theory. It looked awesome.
Speaker 1:But we got to congratulate Roley, though. Shout out to Roley man. Roley did his thing Discipline, trained for that punch, did his homework, discipline your man's TO Senior. He was like he told him before the fight to keep that right hand up. He looked like he was training crazy it was no secret that he didn't have power.
Speaker 1:I think Tank said he's the hardest. Yes, but he took something from Tank. He don't want to say it, but we all see it. We saw Roley pinning the hand of Ryan Pinning his hand, pinning his hand, his left hook pinning it. So he had to throw the left hook. But he know it's coming and this right hand is tucked the whole time. I didn't. Ryan got rid of Coach Bullet and he got disciplined.
Speaker 2:I don't even know Haney said or not Haney, I'm sorry. Romero said that I just have to not get hit by his hook and I'm okay, and that's exactly what he did and he was right. He was right.
Speaker 1:But I didn't think I was going to see this Roley. I thought Roley was going to come in, manhandle him Just like the sparring video just come out there. Tough, but he was disciplined.
Speaker 2:Kept that right hand up, what did I say?
Speaker 1:though you said he was a lob dog, bro.
Speaker 2:I said sparring when you're 14. This is something that goes for. I'm sick of hearing this argument. Oh, they sparred a lot when they were 14. They sparred like crazy when they were 16, 17. They're grown men now. I don't look the same as I did when I was 16, 15, 14. And they don't either. And they're not wearing headgear and and headgear, and they've all gotten way better.
Speaker 1:I think it really looked the same, though it kind of looked the same.
Speaker 2:He wasn't getting knocked down with headgear on, though, who Garcia?
Speaker 1:Yes, I think he did. They were like clips. Yeah, I think he did, and he caught him with the same punch actually.
Speaker 2:But you could say the same thing about Garcia and Haney. They've fought five times in the amateurs when they were 18. Yeah, yeah, and it was like a split and it looked even when you get hit without headgear man.
Speaker 1:I'm just saying that it really helped Roley. I feel like he had his number already. He was like yeah, I know what I did to you already. And then Ryan just like you know the thing he knows went once Ryan throws his left hook or jab, his hands is down and his chin is always sniffing butts Wide open.
Speaker 2:Ryan Garcia's chin is always wide open. Everything you're saying. That happened I predicted, but I didn't bet on it because I'm an idiot yeah.
Speaker 1:Well, we was right there to bet on it and I, I ended up. I'm so slow, bro, my my right there and I, I end up. I'm so slow, bro, my, my bet was looking good. Teo fucked up my bet. It was looking good, um, but uh, I could have put, I put, could have put money on roly instead of putting on fucking jose. I seem like I'm like damn, jose's gonna come, man, he might have this because, uh, um, devon is just running around.
Speaker 2:I told you, though, I was like, if Haney runs, jose's going to have an issue, but I thought Haney was going to come and try to gain his confidence. Yeah, me too I thought so too.
Speaker 1:But I mean, that was crazy. But shout out to Roley man, he fucked Vegas money up, he fucked Turk plans up, kind of sort of. He was like, yeah, pick a fight anyway.
Speaker 2:So apparently though, there was some more drama with that. Roley came out after the fight Did you see that video? And he was like yo, they messed up my hotel room. That's what I was talking about the car. I don't think he was supposed to walk through the city, but he did. He's like they messed up my gloves, he's like they tried and I don't know. You know, roley doesn't seem like a liar to me after he told us about his sucking toes in front of everybody. I don't think he's lying. I don't know if Turk did it on purpose or it was just a mishap Shit happens but I'm saying that that's a little crazy.
Speaker 1:To me too, it's always something, it's, always something, it's always politics drama, blah, blah, blah, blah blah. But hey, drama blah blah blah, blah, blah, but hey, it was. Uh, you know there's a lot of boxing. Um, again, I was trashed, it was lackluster, but yeah, um, you know, we appreciate the attempt, you know, but the fighters guys do their part too.
Speaker 2:The fighters have to do their part they do, but you know there's a chance that that could happen, and that's when the crowd steps in or they. They pan to the crowd and you just see people, drunk, fighting in the. You know I mean like yeah, like okay, cool. We see shakur and kishon, like we see them all the time, like I want to see them, and then they kept panning out. They kept panning out to the cattle that were trapped outside the castle, that weren't allowed in, and it was just weird. I I guess, though, from what I heard, for the, for the content creators and the podcasters, it was cool because there was a lot of pros outside, but for the regular people that just show up, you're not extending the sport again that way. They're like this is dumb. Why am I staring at a red ring label?
Speaker 1:I could google that new york still showed out. They were still around there and the barricades like they was just outside, chilling Just hey.
Speaker 2:Think of how mad they were, though, and I heard from some people that were there working that it got a little rowdy because people were pissed, People were pissed. So they didn't hear that, though they should have.
Speaker 1:They should have known New York City. You should have lived here for like a year.
Speaker 2:I would have been pissed, though, man, if we went to the city again and we couldn't. I think we knew we'd have made fun of it.
Speaker 1:Yeah, but I want teo's like. I want to watch teo like. Um, I think we would have made fun.
Speaker 2:Yeah, it would have been fun, but like it, it just would have been like oh, we can't see the fight. Was it even on? Were they even showing it on the video? That I don't think they were a A lot of people didn't even know about it. That too, that's another thing, that's another thing, he's not doing something right, something's not going right.
Speaker 1:And then, but DAZN too, I got beef with them. What, why we gotta pay for the full fight if we pay already like a month? I know we didn't pay for the pay-per-view, but damn, we gotta pay for it. Like I'm over here.
Speaker 2:And when DAZN started they said no pay-per-views ever. And then they signed Canelo for a little bit and they got a contract with Canelo and they're like, wow, we can't afford to pay this guy. Wow.
Speaker 1:Yeah, y'all duped us with that. Whatever it is what it is, I'm over here trying to re-watch the fights. It says lock on the top of it.
Speaker 2:Really, oh, because you didn't order it, you can't re-watch it. That's so corny. Yeah, that is dumb, that's dumb. In 2025, like after the fight.
Speaker 1:Come on, it's like three days later. You should be able to watch it Two days, two, three days later, bro, so then maybe next week Also. Eddie Hearn lied.
Speaker 2:Eddie Hearn lied too. He said he has to fly on a a flight to uh to go to Saudi, and he didn't. He didn't go to Saudi, no, I mean Turk did but he, he probably got some New York thing.
Speaker 1:He missed the flight. You think Probably caught some New York thing.
Speaker 2:Yeah, some crabs or rats. That being said, though, Turk did fly into Saudi.
Speaker 1:He got there man, A lot of them. Did you know that fight?
Speaker 2:was on.
Speaker 1:Bud got there. It was mad people. I think Bud probably was on the same plane as Turk or something. Yeah, I'm sure he was On the PG.
Speaker 2:You saw them holding hands too, nah. I didn't see that. Oh, let me show you real quick. They probably were on the same plane, because I saw this. I'm crying. Holding hands is wild. This was a little weird man Look.
Speaker 1:I'm done.
Speaker 2:That was a little odd, but you know whatever. So they flew over to saudi and it was for a canelo card. Another fight that was, a guy was put in front of canelo was made mandatory and canelo took it. And this fight was put in place for Canelo to just erase him erase him off the map. And again Canelo. It's very hard to catch a guy who's running at the top tier. These are pro athletes running away, running away. But the guy was landing jabs on Canelo and Canelo was one-plot shotting again.
Speaker 1:Yeah, all the time now and now. It's like that's what he does every single time he don't set nothing up Versus William Skull. That was a nice body stop, yeah, yeah.
Speaker 2:But like, if it doesn't knock him out, you gotta do something else. Like you can't just keep doing that. Like when he fought Bivel and lost, bivel was in his face throwing punches.
Speaker 1:Speaking of Bivel, he commented like he had a little comment on it. He was like yo, he's like Canelo. Opponent did not want to win that fight. No, he didn't go out to win that fight.
Speaker 2:I agree, but it looked like Canelo didn't go to win that fight either. When you're not throwing combinations, I mean what else? Is he supposed to do?
Speaker 1:man.
Speaker 2:Dude, he's got a brick chin. His chin is triple. G was pounding his face and he was eating it. This guy, william Skoll, was not knocking that dude out, he's all neck.
Speaker 1:Yeah, but he chased him down. He was trying to throw combinations to the body. Dude was moving. He had that.
Speaker 2:I didn't see any combinations. What?
Speaker 1:is he?
Speaker 2:he Cuban you sure he threw combinations, because all I saw was one hook.
Speaker 1:I mean, I seen a couple of body punches. He didn't set up nothing, but he tried. He couldn't catch him.
Speaker 2:man he was too, slow and I don't know, it was just but like. William's goal is like a C-list fighter dude.
Speaker 1:It's bad when the ref has to tell y'all to fight when y'all know y'all got issues, when the ref trying to, gotta tell y'all to fight and I'm not complaining, I'm not comparing.
Speaker 2:I mean, I'm not comparing the two, but when, when people are coming at haney, all crazy, you better come at canelo too. They broke records for the least amount of punches thrown. Yeah, canelo as well, because he's one-pop shotting. He wasn't throwing, canelo wasn't throwing. I'll tell you this right now. The fight was announced Terrence Crawford versus Canelo.
Speaker 1:It's hard to say the comparison. He's one-pop shotting, but he's chasing the guy down. You know what I'm saying?
Speaker 2:Our friend who, hopefully we can get an interview with the guy we always see at fights, who fought my favorite fighter, ortiz Ortiz. Oh yeah, remember when him and TO fought Same shit, everyone would say TO lost, to lost, to lost. Now everyone wants to be like no, he's running, he's running, you can't. Why do people switch up Boxing fans?
Speaker 1:is crazy. I ain't going to lie. Boxing fans is crazy. Why is people switching up? Boxing fans is crazy. But they are like that's like we comparison. But Floyd is like, yeah, but Floyd, would Floyd need to be, they not being Floyd, they not being Floyd? Floyd would move and not get hit, but he's in a pocket, not getting hit and he would return fire. And then he would return fire. We talking about people just moving and continue moving and then come back, come with a one-two and then continue moving.
Speaker 2:But you see what I'm saying about Canelo, versus this level of opposition. I think Canelo tried that guy was not knocking him out at any point. Canelo versus this level of opposition? I think Canelo tried that guy was not knocking him out at any point. Canelo again took punches from Triple G.
Speaker 1:Canelo need a side with that. Canelo wait, I can tell you one thing, what you were saying about what was announced.
Speaker 2:Crawford.
Speaker 1:Crawford and Canelo right. This just confirmed my Crawford I'm taking.
Speaker 2:Crawford. You're taking Crawford. People are not going to be happy with that.
Speaker 1:Confirmed, confirmed, confirmed.
Speaker 2:Here I'm taking Crawford, so if Canelo fights, that one pop, shot and doesn't knock Crawford out right Because remember he's coming up two weight classes shot and doesn't knock Crawford out right Because remember he's coming up two weight classes. So if he doesn't knock Crawford down or out right With that one, that new one pop not new he's been doing it for now the past four or five fights he's been doing it forever now, but it switched.
Speaker 1:He used to throw combos fast, quick combos precise combos, and they'd be acting like Canelo Canelo's only like 30-something, like 32.
Speaker 2:But he's fight old he's fighter old 33?, Dude 34? He's got. Guess how many fights he has? He's got like over 50. 66.
Speaker 1:No 67 total 63, 2, and 2. He's 66 fights now. He learned it 68. I can't count Wait.
Speaker 2:He got two, four, five, six, seven 67 fights. He got 63, two and two, two, two loss and two draws. Goddamn 63 fights, dude, he's punch old, and that's not including sparring. Yeah, that's when, when he used to fight and get hit, never been knocked down. He's. He's a beast. And there's a reason, though. He's not in pound for pound talks and it's this new weird style. A guy like that you think would be still in the pound-for-pound talks, and he's not.
Speaker 1:I wonder why he does that now. You think he just don't trust his hand speed.
Speaker 2:He changed trainers and they.
Speaker 1:But when you see his training videos, all you see is like Like no combinations, just strong, strong punches this happened the minute he went to eddie reynoso.
Speaker 2:Once he changed to eddie reynoso, you saw an adjustment and that's how eddie reynoso trained you'll be knowing a bunch of changes, but you know, once he did, once he did that man you saw this change in style and I didn't know it was going to stick forever. But but now it's kind of becoming like like a problem. But I will say this listen, terrence crawford's moving up to weight classes.
Speaker 1:Right, he is the smaller guy technically and I don't, I don't believe, because terrence really probably walk around that way and he's strong and he wrestled. I like, I like terrence now man he's on box if like if he could take that power, I'm sure he could.
Speaker 2:I want to see how good Terrence's body is, though, because Canelo's going to rip him to the body at some point when they fight.
Speaker 1:You see him, he was throwing, I ain't going to lie, he was throwing them body punches at Skol, but Skol wouldn't sit there for him, but he would move.
Speaker 2:Now, speaking of this fight, though, let's see what happens. All right, because it's basically they can't F this up. The Saudis can't F this up, it's in Vegas it's indoors.
Speaker 1:But if they do, they need to just let the regular promoters they need to start promotion right now.
Speaker 2:Yeah they need to let the regular promoters and also they're giving Dana White like a fail safe, like he can't mess this up. It's, it's, it's the two biggest names to the biggest names in boxing fighting one another in Vegas. What do you? What does Dana White need to do to promote it? Like, what does he need to do to promote it?
Speaker 1:Where did he even come from you seen that shit.
Speaker 2:Where did he even come from? Now he's Canelo. Like, what does he have to do? You don't have to do anything to promote this fight. You just can't mess it up. You just can't mess it up. And if they, if they, if they don't allow fans or invite only crap, whatever they do, it's in vegas, so it shouldn't. Uh, I'm gonna have issues insane.
Speaker 1:Um, this is gonna be. That's crazy. He got gifted. He got gifted canelo and croft like it's wild data way. You, lucky dude bro. Yeah, very so you. This is your way into the game. Let's see what you can do. You know what I'm saying and you know what?
Speaker 2:uh, this is just. This is just, I think, like a sales plow for the future, because dana white is going to do that tko promotion thing. So this is his smart way of saying, oh, look, look what he did, look what he did, when really he doesn't have to do much.
Speaker 2:But uh, yeah, I mean boxing is is crazy right now, man but the undercard, the undercard of that fight, uh, jaime munguia versus bruno sarach. I really thought Jaime was going to get him out of there. Yeah, he did his thing, though he won all the rounds at 168. He looked good. He looked very strong.
Speaker 1:He had a little better defense too.
Speaker 2:I've seen him making people miss. He was training with Canelo. He pulled.
Speaker 1:I'm like, oh, he made a miss. Oh, I'm like, oh he made a miss.
Speaker 2:I'm like, yeah, on the undercard. The fight before that was Badu Jack versus Norell Michelin.
Speaker 1:I don't know if I got that one right, but yep.
Speaker 2:Badu Jack is very old in the sport but he's doing his thing at cruiserweight he still has the belt he's got the belt and he's winning. He's tough, he's hard to be at the at cruiserweight, so the competition at cruiserweight isn't really that great. Um, so he's in a good spot, but again he's. You know how old is Badu Jack now? I think Badu Jack is up there, man. I think he's like 40.
Speaker 1:Damn 41.
Speaker 2:I was right, he's 41. He's at cruiserweight though, so he could last a little bit, but I want to see some people going after Badou Jack, but he's a tough out. He's always a tough out. Not the most exciting fighter, he doesn't get a lot of knockouts, but he's always in it to win it and he does. He has a belt. It's funny with him too. He started with, I think, tmt and their personalities don't who the Money Team. Badu Jack? Oh, he was. I think he did. Yeah, I could be wrong, but I think he did. Then a fight that really disappointed me, which I thought was going to be a banger, and it wasn't Martin Bacoli versus Efe Ajagba, two heavyweights that could hit. I thought Bacoli was going to get this guy out of there. I think FA Ajab was a little overrated at heavyweight.
Speaker 2:He was sitting in for him though Apparently though Bacoli's trainer said like apparently Bacoli came in way too fat Like way too fat 299 pounds, he was almost 300. Yeah, and FA was 240. Whatever, this fight didn't really show us anything. I mean, I, I think he a job.
Speaker 1:Um, I think how you say his name? Fa ajagba, ajagba. Yeah, he, I don't know what the heck he was thinking, bro. He just a lot of times, bro you can see here his corner like what are you doing on the ropes? Like why are you sitting there letting him tee off on you? Bro? I don't know if he was tired of moving around you 240. Move. I don't understand what he was doing.
Speaker 2:Yeah, that's what I mean. I think they're both a little overrated. It's heavyweights, though. They can all hit. The heavyweight division is full of hitters.
Speaker 1:And one thing he got a draw, he got a loss. He just, yeah, he's just fighting, just to fight. I think it's about the money for him.
Speaker 2:So I think I just read something within the ring magazine that apparently he's a vegetarian. How the hell you drink 300 pounds and what do you eat? It's like. What do you eat?
Speaker 1:yeah, like a hundred men versus one gorilla Nah A hundred Bacolis, damn near.
Speaker 2:Wait, is it a hundred men versus?
Speaker 1:Is it a hundred men versus one gorilla?
Speaker 2:Oh, that's what.
Speaker 1:Who you got.
Speaker 2:A hundred men versus one gorilla. Who you got Versus a hundred men. I'm beating a dumb gorilla.
Speaker 1:You bugger Nah we, you bugger, you bugger. That gorilla is terror, tearing y'all up If it's not for Spicoli. It's tearing. It depends on. I guess it depends on. Yeah, what kind of gorilla.
Speaker 2:Is it like the Bronx Zoo gorillas? Because they all look like, nah, the Bronx Zoo gorillas. One of them just kept walking in a circle. They had the handicapped gorilla.
Speaker 1:They had the handicapped gorilla. Nah, that was good, we need a silverback gorilla.
Speaker 2:Like a real out of the jungle gorilla Nah man 100,.
Speaker 1:Man, come on, come on now. Who's taking a bite? Who's going to get hit first? We just charging.
Speaker 2:Y'all all got to charge at the same time. The gorilla's going to run.
Speaker 1:Bro. I'm saying like if he had to fight, nah, the gorilla's going to put on. He's breaking a couple people's arms and biting the shit out of somebody.
Speaker 2:Yeah, but we got 90 backing up Nah.
Speaker 1:Nah, they can freaking lift like 4,000 tons or something 1,000 tons.
Speaker 2:Nah. What 100 men, so could 100 men.
Speaker 1:Just my theory. The way we divided nowadays, no way we ain't helping each other. I think 100 Naya Inouye's beat a gorilla, 100 black dudes we are running, we are dying, fucking with that. If it was y'all you know what I'm saying y'all would have been like, yeah, 100 of. Don Julio man nah, 100, 100 of Steve Ernst maybe have been like yeah, a hundred of don julio man, no, a hundred, a hundred of, uh, steve erns.
Speaker 2:Maybe all right enough about the stupid gorilla. Um yeah, but it's just weird. Mara bacoli is a vegetarian and he's that fat and weighs 300.
Speaker 1:How much is there? How many veggies he can eat a lot of fruit he's a lot of.
Speaker 2:He must be a lot of candy. He's eating a lot of. He must be eating a lot of candy. It would be a shitload of vegan candy. I don't know how it works. I don't know about it.
Speaker 1:A lot of candies have gluten. That's pork, whatever.
Speaker 2:I don't know, on the Sunday night. Sunday night was A card that did not disappoint. Finally, and I'm not going to lie, sunday night boxing was cool, I wasn't used to that.
Speaker 1:I wasn't either. I was asleep. I think I woke up.
Speaker 2:I was texting you about Rohan, your boy. I was asleep. He looked good. He looked really good, tough guy.
Speaker 1:I took a picture of the fight. I saw the whole fight. Actually, I watched the whole fight.
Speaker 2:He knocked him down in the 10th round. The whole fight. Actually, I watched the whole fight. He knocked him down in the 10th round. I wanted.
Speaker 1:I needed rohan knockout too, but yo he, yeah, he does he. That dude was tough, I ain't gonna lie. He beat the crap out of him. Bro, every dude ain't going nowhere. I'm like yo. Why is he just sitting taking a beating?
Speaker 2:like dude, I'm not gonna lie. And every argentinian, it's tough dude, I swear. Every time an argentinian fights, I'm like this dude. I thought he was mexican the way he was, how tough he was. Nah, argentinians, dude. Every time I've seen them fight, I'm like damn it's just in there.
Speaker 1:Just shout out to rohan again on that card though. Yeah, that was a good look. Yeah, rohan, on how you think that's my boy yeah, no, rohan looked good.
Speaker 2:He looked really good. I just think if, if I had to critique something his philly shell style it's not always going to work. You know what I mean? Yeah, because he was getting hit when the dude would come over the top. So if he would just put his hands up and yeah, and this was a step-up fight.
Speaker 1:He needed to show a different look sometimes.
Speaker 2:This was a little bit of a step-up fight. They knew he was tough, this guy. He did his thing and he stayed consistent. He just beat him as he moves up in competition. Don't play around so much. That'll come, I'm sure, when he's getting hit by real competition. He definitely got hit a couple of times he got hit.
Speaker 1:Dude was timing him. He dropped him in the tent, though, so that was good. I thought he was going to stop him earlier. Now though a guy on my radar and what, yeah, he stole the night. I ain't going to lie, he saved Cinco de Mayo In a way. No who?
Speaker 2:Espinoza Screw, Espinoza man.
Speaker 1:What he stole the night. Did you see who was in the crowd? Man, Huh.
Speaker 2:Did you see who was in the crowd?
Speaker 1:Yeah, yeah, shoot man. He traveling crazy too, right, he went from new york to vegas on a red eye. So these fighters living life.
Speaker 2:I'm trying to be like y'all when I grow up rafael espinoza versus edward vasquez for the wbo world featherweight title. Listen, rafael espinoza is a mini fundora he's related.
Speaker 1:Yeah, he's related to them. I don't know what I was thinking about. He's a mini fundora. I didn't think he was gonna stop, dude, but he was. He put it together.
Speaker 2:I did notice something, though, man, and and this was after the fight he did put it together versus edward vasquez, who's also tough. This was, this was supposed to be a a tougher matchup as well.
Speaker 1:This is, bro, but it's crazy. I had I end up placing another bet, right, yeah, and and I had, uh, I just I think I had, like I had the warriors winning. I had, uh, this fight to go the distance, but then I had, in a way, seven through nine it would have hit crazy. Good bro, Now broke.
Speaker 2:Yeah, me too. I get paid Wednesday, thank God. But Rafael Espinoza 6'1". I don't know how he makes the weight at 125.
Speaker 1:Yeah, how he makes that weight.
Speaker 2:But he does make that weight. But when we met Bruce at the weigh-in right he said he sent offers out to everybody. He dipped his feet in the water, got no bites back, like he doesn't know what's going on. And then at the end of the fight they ask Espinoza. They say Shushu's in the crowd. Blah, blah, blah. He named everybody, but Shushu. He didn't mention his name. Yeah, so something's going on there, man, they ducking our guy.
Speaker 1:Yeah, so something's going on there, man, they ducking our guy, they don't want that problem man.
Speaker 2:And I will say this I love it for Shu. I love it. He's 6'1", he fights in the pocket, so does Shu Shu. And Espinoza was getting hit with some crap.
Speaker 1:Yeah.
Speaker 2:Now, if you get hit with some crap like that from Shu Shu, it's going to be different.
Speaker 1:Again, tough, tough guy. Every episode yeah.
Speaker 2:Espinosa is great for.
Speaker 1:Shushu, because why? Now you see how you do me all the time, but why, what do you mean? Why is Shushu is great for In the pocket and the counters, the counters.
Speaker 2:See how I did. You man, yeah, you got it, yeah.
Speaker 1:I asked you a question, damn man, but you know that the counters, shushu got counters.
Speaker 2:Yeah, and again, if you're getting hit by Espinosa, who knows Anything could happen. That guy has a lot of leverage but he's leading with uppercuts and those hooks over the top.
Speaker 1:He get away with a lot of elbows just like.
Speaker 2:Fendor yeah, I don't know if it's their fault.
Speaker 1:They're just tall and awkward, but he was putting it together, bro, he can just.
Speaker 2:But we need fight. Bruce is the number one contender in almost every freaking category. Yo shoot.
Speaker 1:And he deserves it. Bro, give him a belt shot. He's going to get one, because yo Dude it's top rank, top rank.
Speaker 2:This fight is not hard to make Nick Ball's a little harder, this fight is not hard to make.
Speaker 1:Oh, which is that, eddie?
Speaker 2:Oh yeah. So we saw Eddie in the street before and you know I'm team Shushu, it's obvious. I speak about him enough. He's up there with TO for me. So I'm a Shushu and TO sexual. No, did he Still PG child here? Eddie, I'm yelling at him or whatever. Blah, blah, blah. I I'm like eddie, come on, nick paul shushu, nick paul shushu, yeah, screaming at him. Eddie looks at me and then he goes nick jake paul, jake paul shushu. And I'm like no, nick paul, what the hell? I said nick paul. He's like oh, I thought you said jake paul. I didn't fucking say jake paul, yeah. And then he got weird and walked away real fast. But he took a picture with us. He's a great deflector.
Speaker 1:Yeah, he got me out of there Like what. He put a blonde, yeah, and then he just dipped Huh, you know, that's how you not answer questions. It's like oh what? What'd you say?
Speaker 2:Jake Paul, yeah, that he's good, he's tall, I don't think a lot of people in the crowd didn't even know who he was until I was yelling at him, yeah, and then like Everybody started coming in there and shit.
Speaker 1:They saw him in the ring though. They were like man this guy got to be a point Like what is it going to take?
Speaker 2:And shame on the commissions, WBC, WBO for not making Shushu a mandatory, yeah, Like leaving money on the table that's anywhere. That's a huge fight. That's a huge fight, man in new york dude, that's a huge fight espinoza versus shushu.
Speaker 1:I tell you somebody that, somebody that don't want shushu, who, anyway, I don't know if he wants you, uh, I mean I don't so.
Speaker 2:Did you see what? Okay, so let's just get into anyway. Now naya, in a way, fights. Uh, what's the hell, cardenas? Am I saying that right?
Speaker 1:Yeah, am I.
Speaker 2:Cardenas, naya Inouye versus Ramon Cardenas, who they were touting as a Mexican. But I just want to state something real quick. He's not Mexican, yeah, he is, but he's Mexican-American. He fights out of San Antonio. It's just annoying me. I get it. Cinco de Mayo Alright For Undisputed at 122. Listen, man, inouye to me is my number one pound for pound right now. No, no, I'm sorry, usyk is my number one pound for pound, but Inouye is number two.
Speaker 1:That was mine. You said that people.
Speaker 2:Yeah, usyk's number one right now. For me, pound for pound. Inouye's number two, and here's why. Here's why People are roasting Inouye for getting knocked down. Go back 50 years ago, right, when boxing was at its best. Everybody was getting it. They were all getting knocked down and getting it was known. It's part of the sport. It's two points, it's a, it's a it's Point play. You know what I'm saying?
Speaker 1:Yeah.
Speaker 2:Like so we can't just keep this new generation of boxing fan is just cooking guys for getting knocked down. It's okay, it's boxing. It's going to happen Like it's going to happen in boxing.
Speaker 1:But I could tell you this but he got knocked down the same way twice. That's not good yeah.
Speaker 2:But I'm going to rebuttal. He adjusted each time and got his guy out of there, of course, and this is not. I want to give a lot of credit to Ramon Cordenius. I didn't know much about him before this fight. Tough dude, real tough dude.
Speaker 1:I don't think he never got stopped.
Speaker 2:And he came in big. I think he came in heavy on purpose. He did his homework, he was setting that shot up and Tim Bradley did his thing too. He called it Finally, tim Bradley. I gave him some props, he called it right away. That was great for the sport, but in a way, it is.
Speaker 1:That's great about film you can see what works and the same exact punch bro, in a way it's a monster. It's the same punch that Ryan got caught with With Roley and Tank too. They all got that left hook, and then their right hand is not down. It was down right over the top A duck.
Speaker 2:Inouye is a monster though.
Speaker 1:He is still a monster, bro, the way he punches man.
Speaker 2:He adjusted very well the way he punches.
Speaker 1:We got to see that in person. He got to come back In Vegas. Yeah, he got to see that in person. He got to come back Vegas. Yeah, he got to come to New York.
Speaker 2:He's not, though. I think his next fight he's fighting. I don't think he's going to come back, but his next fight. He did call out and say that's what he wants next in Japan. I guess it's going to be MJ Akhmadov or however the hell you say it. It was. Whatever the hell you say.
Speaker 1:There was another duo on that card, low-key I'm going off topic, but Nakatani or something like that.
Speaker 2:Oh, yeah, yeah, Nakatani, Nakatani could crack too.
Speaker 1:The dude that fought before them. Oh man, no, it's like a different one. I don't think I'm saying his name right, but he can crack too.
Speaker 2:He was on the card.
Speaker 1:I don't even know who he was.
Speaker 2:On the same card he was before them, MJ though Akhmedalov right, he's like the boogeyman of that weight division. Nobody wants it with him. Eastern European, tough as hell. That fight's going to happen. That's a great fight too. Just because he could crack too, and the secret's out, I don't know why. Away the secret's out now. We know how to knock him down, but the way he adjusts, dude, that's why he's such a pound-for-pound champ to me. Yeah, he gets hit with it.
Speaker 1:He said it.
Speaker 2:He said I wasn't being smart with my distance and he clipped me. I knew. When he took the knee and he looked up and he just nodded. He took his time, he got up. I knew it was over for fights. If he goes to 125 and fights guys like Shushu and stuff, right, they hit harder. Yeah, so you can't get clipped. But Shushu said something after the fight. He's like listen, I get it if he wants to stay there. He's moved up from 108. Yeah, so you know they're light, but that's still a lot of weight. He moved up. He did enough. Yeah, and he's doing his thing. Lots of good fights. Man Boxing is back. Even if the Saudis are a little out of touch with how things work here in America, they're trying. That was a good point you made, willie. Happy Cinco de Mayo everybody. I know I'm missing some stuff. I knew this show we were going to miss some stuff.
Speaker 1:We got the Don Julio.
Speaker 2:Yeah, we are. It was a wild night this episode was. It was a wild uh night episode sponsored by nobody no sponsors. We should try and get sponsors. Um, I actually I got a lot of feedback, willie, people were dming us and stuff, yeah, telling us to go live and stuff. So we really got to sit down, you and I told you, man. But we got to figure out like exactly twitch or youtube, so we could go live. I like I we need YouTube.
Speaker 1:right, we need YouTube, but Twitch is also a great lane, because a lot of people got Amazon All of them.
Speaker 2:So if we go live, we need to advertise it. So if you are listening and we're going to go live, we'll set up a time, dm us a good time and we will go live. We'll bring people in. Whatever. We're still going to try and press the interviews. We're making a lot of connections in this little boxing game.
Speaker 1:Showing up and showing up. I'm glad to be here, man. I'm glad that the Spar Inn found me.
Speaker 2:You kind of found me, and then I created all this the Spar Inn was here, though If you build it, they will come. We have came.
Speaker 1:To the bar. We came to the bar. We came to the bar.
Speaker 2:Hey yo, the hand came out. Ah yeah, Cinco de Mayo, all right. Well, I got to watch the.
Speaker 1:Knicks lose and I got to go to dance.
Speaker 2:Yeah, knicks on Knicks play at 7. Damn, I was going to ask you if you wanted to go watch that.
Speaker 1:Yeah, and I got to dance and lose more money. Dance at 7 o'clock.
Speaker 2:That's it Again. I don't want to cook Turk too bad. I know it sounded like we're just hating on him, he's trying or whatever, but I think he needs to take some advice from the fans. Maybe Shout out to all the fighters that showed us love, shout out to Shushu and his family. Shushu is like.
Speaker 1:Most humble guy.
Speaker 2:One in one.
Speaker 1:Yo he fixed my phone. He he fixed my phone Like yo. He's just like a kid at a candy store man.
Speaker 2:We're definitely going to interview Bruce again. We got to have Shushu back.
Speaker 1:He got so much charisma. His dad did a great job. His dad looking young man. Yeah, His dad is getting younger by the day. Just all of them, man.
Speaker 2:Shout out to the boxing world man Shout out to Johnny man.
Speaker 1:Oh, johnny Boy Boxing.
Speaker 2:Johnny man, oh, johnny Boy Boxing.
Speaker 1:Johnny Boy, don't follow him that guy, he just shows, love man, he just.
Speaker 2:And you know what I like about him, what we saw behind the scenes with the media. We're like the media this week. So we were the media. I guess we are the media and that's weird. I liked that he wasn't so annoying Like some dudes, these podcasters, bro, or in everyone's face, blah, blah, blah. But I guess that's how you gotta be. We weren't we weren't like that.
Speaker 1:Maybe we gotta learn a couple things, because we're just ourselves. Yeah, we just like hey, roly, you like feet, you don't be sucking toes.
Speaker 2:Yeah, we just need a cameraman to catch stuff like that yeah, and then we, I guess we need a gopro, yeah, and then we'll just edit later.
Speaker 1:I got one, but yeah, we can make we'll. We'll figure it out, figure it out Always. We need a break, though, too.
Speaker 2:Shout out.
Speaker 1:Shout out to my daughter, callie man. Shout out to you, cal Callie oh no, she has headphones on.
Speaker 2:She can't hear us.
Speaker 1:Shout out to you.

What college do you want to go to? Callie? What you don't know? You're a cheerleading expert. How old is?
Speaker 1:Callie, she's about to be 10.
